Unity In The Spirit

Hello everyone and thank you so much for joining me today. My name is Roderick CAesar the third on the lead pastor of Bethel Gospel Tabernacle in Jamaica queens new york and I’m so excited that you decided to join me for the full Gospel hour right here on global seven. My prayers that you will be blessed. You’ll be encouraged and inspired by this message. Thank you so much for joining and God bless. So Bethel, I’m so grateful that we’re able to uh, fellowship today and able to come together in this way. And I pray that as the message goes forth, that someone would be encouraged today and strengthen. Let me just open up with a word of prayer. You’re gonna thank you so much for this day. I thank you for this Pentecost sunday Lord, I thank you that God, even though uh, there may be so many different things going on in the world. Lord, we have hope because you not only lived but you died and you lived again. We have hope because God, even though you ascended and now sits at the right hand of the father that you promised us that you would not leave us as orphans, that you would send a comforter to us. Holy spirit Lord, I thank you for your spirit. I thank you for the strength that you give every day, specifically highlighting this Pentecost sunday God, I thank you for the unity that you want us to have. I thank you father for the power that you want us to walk in. I praise you. We give you glory. I pray that as this message goes forth, that would have uh your intended desire for those that are listening? We thank you and we give you glory. We ask these things in jesus name, Amen, Amen! And a man. Today, I’m going to be speaking about the spirits, Desire for unity. It is Pentecost sunday. Uh so I’m going to be speaking about what that means and why it’s important for us today to continue to walk in the power of what happened on that day. Acts chapter two verse one. If you have your bibles turn with me to Acts two verse one or follow along with the screen. And the text reads when the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place and suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind. And it filled the entire house where they were sitting and divided tongues of fire appeared on them and rested on each one of them, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. Now there were in Jerusalem dwelling Jerusalem. Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem jews, devout men from every nation under heaven. At this sound the multitude came together and they were bewildered because each one was hearing them speak in his own language and they were amazed and astonished saying, are not all these who speak galleons. How is it that we hear each of us in his own native language part Ian’s Meade’s ella mites and the residents of Mesopotamia, judea, Cappadocia Pontus and Asia for JIA and pam philia Egypt and the parts of Libya belong to Cyrene. And visitors from Rome, both jews and process elites, christians and arabians, we hear them telling in our own tongues the mighty works of God and all were amazed and perplexed saying to one another, what does this mean? But others mocked and said. They are filled with new wine. It’s important for us as if we’re going to understand this text and what today being Pentecost, Sunday means why this is so important. Pentecost the name Pentecost is associated with the number 50. Uh it’s it’s associated with the Jewish Festival. The festival of weeks. It’s falls on the 50th day of the passover. Uh It’s important because the festival of weeks is one of three major jewish festivals with agricultural and historical significance. It commemorates the time where first fruits were harvested and brought into the temple. It also celebrates the giving of the Torah at Mount Sinai and in the festival uh Passover jews commemorate their emancipation from captivity and slavery in Egypt and all these things are celebrated during this time. The jews. They count each of the days from the second day of the Passover? Uh 49 days or seven full weeks hence the name festival. And it reminds the jewish people of the important connection between the Passover and this festival of weeks. The Passover freed the jewish people physically from bondage in Egypt, but the giving of the Torah uh redeemed them spiritually from their bondage to idolatry and immorality. And so what we realize is because of this significance of this festival, the significance of the time and everything that was taking place, a great many people from across the country and from distant places where the jews had been spread, came together in great numbers to celebrate the Pentecost at the Temple of Solomon in Acts chapter two verse five, the text says that there were jews drawn from every nation under heaven. That’s why there are so many different languages that were present. And and for us today, reading this in hindsight, we realized that the moment of Pentecost, the day of Pentecost is so important because it shows us that God uh Number one honors his promises but also wants his people to be unified. God wants his people to be unified and he shows the need for this unity through the outpouring of his spirit. Pentecost shows us that number one God is not a man that he should lie. He said you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you and what happens the disciples waiting in this upper room, received power because the Holy Spirit comes upon them. What Jesus said would happen did happen. It also shows us that God is all right with waiting, he told them to wait, it wasn’t an immediate okay, Jesus ascends and alright by jesus then boom, Holy Spirit comes immediately, there was a process that they had to wait through and God is okay with waiting. And the third thing that it shows us is that God desires unity, he desires unity and he’s a man of his word, not a man that he should lie, but what he says is going to come to pass in Acts chapter one verse four, while staying with the disciples, he ordered them, do not depart from Jerusalem, he said wait for the promise of the father, he said john baptize you with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit, not many days from now, Jesus is a master storyteller and we see this in scripture, we looked at the life of jesus after he lived, after he lived died and was resurrected, he would come back to his disciples and leave, come back to his disciples, show himself mighty and strong, say, hey I’m resurrected, come look at the scars on my hands, look at the scars on my side and then he would leave, he would show up, do amazing things and then leave why, because he was preparing them for his absence, preparing them for the time when he would no longer physically be there in the flesh and they would have to rely on the spirit and the power of the Holy Ghost and so he says the Holy spirit is coming not many days from now, he’s a master storyteller and he creates anticipation for the disciples. So they wait and they wait and jesus ascends into the heavens and they wait and they wait and they wait and the Holy Spirit finally comes. How many of you know, there are some things that are worth waiting for, There are some things that are worth waiting for, but oftentimes it takes waiting for those things for us to get to know ourselves. Many of us we lack the patience to wait, well we lack the patients needed to wait. Well many of us we wait worried, wait wandering, wait wondering and we wait a week. We wait uh wondering what’s gonna happen, stressed about what’s going on? We wait worried uh continuously, not thinking that things are going to pan out or we wait our way trying to make things come together ourselves. But the text says in psalms 27 wait for the Lord be strong. Let your heart take courage and wait for the Lord, It lets us know what our posture should be, it lets us know that we should wait. Well let’s ask ourselves this question today, are we waiting? Well in the seasons of our lives, if we’re in a particular season and we’re waiting for God to do something, we’re waiting for something new to take place? How are we waiting for this thing to come to pass? Do we hold fast? Do we hold strong in the gap between expectancy and fulfillment? Or do we lack the endurance that needed and the pregnant pauses of life when you’re wondering, okay, what’s next? What will your posture be? How will you wait and the seasons when you have hope that something will come to pass, but it’s not yet in your grasp, How will you wait, jesus says to the disciples, you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and all judea and samaria and the ends of the earth. So we let them know you’re gonna be my witnesses, but not yet. You have to receive power first. So they’re in this middle season where they’re saying okay, jesus, we have this promise and we have what you said, okay well we have your word and now we have the point that we’re going to be witnesses. So we’re in this middle ground now are trying to wait for this Power. Wait for this Holy Spirit. They wait for power. They wait for fulfillment distractions may come but we see them waiting for the power doors may open and opportunities may open somewhere else, but we see them waiting for the Power waiting for the Holy Ghost opportunities may present themselves and it may be a great thing for them to be able to walk through. But jesus said wait and don’t leave? Don’t leave. So we see them waiting for the power of the Holy Ghost relationships may want to be entertained, but they wait for the power some of us instead of waiting for what God says to wait for. We rise up and do it in our own strength. We rise up and try to do it our own way. But how many of you know, it may be fun or it may be uh more beneficial you feel for you to go on your own strength, but you’d be going without the power. You’d be going without the anointing. I remember in the text we read about moses and he’s praying and he says, Lord, we’re not going to go unless you go with us. We’re not going to go unless we know that you are with us and in our lives we have to commit to that same type of zeal. We have to commit to that same type of fortitude, that same type of strength, That same type of of willingness to to cling to the gut to cling to the father God unless your spirit is with us. Unless we can go with you boldly. I’m not gonna take that move unless I know that it’s you, I’m not gonna walk in that open door unless I know that you are with me. Unless I know that it is you that is providing this door. And oftentimes we wonder especially were more in seasons trying to navigate, trying to know what to do, listen to for the last thing you heard from God and wait. What do you do while we wait? Oftentimes, when we wait, the enemy wants to come in and divide us, wants to come in and keep us uh not not joined together when we wait Oftentimes, that’s when the distractions come. We wait oftentimes, that’s when the motivation wanes. But we need to wait unified. We need to wait with a singular focus in mind. Last week we talked about preparation and getting ready for the new thing that God is going to do. As we wait, we’re getting ready as we wait. We’re fighting for unity as we wait. We have to have the same focus in mind. You see the spirit came in when everyone was on one accord. When everyone was of one mind. When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place, focused fixed on the same agenda. The spirit is coming. We must prepare. The spirit is coming. We must be ready to receive, the spirit is coming, then we will be witnesses focused on this promise that jesus said would take place. This is easier said than done. Ladies and gentlemen, this is easier said than done. Saints of God. It takes time. It takes adjusting, it takes taking inventory, it takes dying to self, it takes surrendering your will to say God, not my will, but your will be done. And if those things don’t happen, then it’s going to be very difficult for unity to take place. It’s going to be very difficult for the spirit to come and have his way in our lives. For the believer, for the believer, maintaining unity takes work, It takes effort. It’s not something that you do in allowance chair, It’s not something that you do while relaxing. It goes against our very nature to be unified because we are human beings that look out for our own interests. The last thing I have two Children and what I’ve realized is that the last thing that they want for their lives right now at this stage in the game is unity. That’s the last thing they want. What they want is what they want? If they’re trying to share a toy, there is no trying to share a toy unless that’s enforced upon them. It’s okay. I have this. And if if my sister’s sulking over here crying over here, it doesn’t matter why, because I got what I want. That’s that’s that’s the nature that we’re born into, that’s the nature that that that we have, we have, we are prone to look out for ourselves. But when it comes down to, to being unified, you have to say, okay, okay, okay, how can we make this work? How can we have difficult conversations? How can I give a little here, uh, and compromise so that we can, uh, reach, reach our desired goal together. It takes having those conversations and not just saying, oh well I got mine, so I’m good. No, no, no, we have to do the digging. You have to not be afraid of doing the work. Unity takes work type that in the chat. If you’re listening, unity takes work. Unity takes work. You see many of us, if we’re reading through the Book of Acts, we start here in Acts Chapter one we read on about the mirror, the coming of the Holy Spirit in Acts Chapter two. The sermon that Peter preaches after his life is miraculously transformed the souls that are added to the church. And then we read about the miracles and Acts chapter three and we have it backwards. We read it and we say okay, we want the miracles that take place in Acts three, we say I want to change life and the ability to change the lives of others through the power of the Holy Spirit. I want this, I want the miracles that take place in Acts Chapter three, But are we willing to wait through Acts Chapter two After we receive the mandate that we will be disciples will be uh witnesses in acts chapter one So we want the miracles that take place in Acts three. But are we willing to wait through Acts Chapter two, After we received a mandate in Acts Chapter one, the same thing applies for our lives. We maybe have goals that we’re trying to reach things that we’re trying to accomplish. And are we willing to put the work in The Acts Chapter two components. We’re willing to go through the waiting, go through the unity, go through the research, go through the step by step, process of getting it done Or are we just romanticizing the end product? How is it that we’re navigating these things? The text says in Acts Chapter 1 33 Behold how good and how pleasant it is when brothers dwell together in unity. It is like the precious oil on the beard running down on the head. Excuse me running down on the beard on the Beard of Aaron running down on the collar of his robes. It is like the dew of Hermon which falls on the mountains of Zion. For there, the Lord has commanded his blessing life forevermore. So, we see the text highlights the importance of unity. The text highlights the importance of unity and how beautiful it is when people come together as a team and people come together to strategize. People come together uh and live in unity that the spirit is pushing towards and the day of Pentecost comes, they were all together in one place, location, location, location. I believe that they were not just physically together because how many of you know, you can be physically together but emotionally disjointed emotionally and not not connected. And what we realized here is that they weren’t just physically together in one place but they came together emotionally. They came together spiritually to seek the things of God so that the Holy Spirit could come. They were in one place, they were in one accord, they were unified. And that is when the Holy Spirit shows up. The text says all of a sudden there came from heaven, a sound like a mighty rushing wind filled the entire house that they were sitting on and divided tongues of fire appeared and arrested on each one of them. I love this text because it shows us that the Holy Spirit arrested on the disciples and they were not consumed first time God interacts with man and we are not consumed moses saw a foreshadowing of this when he looked at the burning bush, the bush was burning but he turned aside and looked in all because it was not consumed, God resting on someone, something that should be consumed. But it’s not because of the grace, because of the blood, because of this new chapter that we are now in the chapter of the Power of the Holy Spirit, jesus says uh he will baptize with the Holy Spirit and we realized that now we are the temple of God, We are the temple of God in Leviticus chapter nine the text says that Moses and Aaron went to the tent of meeting and when they came out they blessed the people and the glory of the Lord appeared to all the people and fire came out before the Lord and consumed the burnt offering and the pieces of fat on the altar. When all the people saw it, they fell on their faces. Why? Because the Lord consumed something And now for us we’re realizing that we are the temple of the living god. God is on us within us and we are not consumed. What a blessing it is, what a miracle it is on this day of Pentecost. It speaks to the wisdom that speaks to the love that speaks to the grace and mercy of the father to dwell on and in the disciples and on and in us even today so that we live differently, walk differently move differently and the Lord is with us as we do this fighting for unity, the text says they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the spirit gave them utterance, not of their own language, not of course that they studied for four or five years and they were proficient in this new language and I know the Spirit gave them utterance. It were filled with the power of the Holy Ghost and now we realize that this is a setup because this is the perfect time for this to happen. They’re jews from all over from all the different corners of the known earth at this time and they’re all these different people and and and because of the significance of the feast once again, there’s so many different individuals that were there speaking different languages, their understanding different languages and the sound of the multitude came together and everyone was bewildered because they heard them speak in their own language and they were amazed and they say, wait a minute, aren’t these, these people here galleons, why am I hearing my own language here? It shouldn’t be. This is this is strange, How are they proficient in my language? And somebody else that speaks a whole different language comes up to you and says, hey, they’re speaking in my language and they’re speaking in my language and everyone is saying, wait, I’m hearing the goodness of the Lord in my, in my, in my mother tongue in my language. And I think this speaks to the plan of the Lord because the Lord knew when this would be a maximum height. It’s, it’s almost like this went viral in today’s day and age. Everyone understood that everyone saw it was everywhere. And what we realize is that If the Holy Spirit had come two weeks sooner and this day of Pentecost that happened, you know, uh two weeks, three weeks sooner, it wouldn’t have had the effect because the people would not have been present, jesus said wait, the Holy Spirit will come. They knew exactly the Spirit knew exactly when, okay, this is my time to shine. This is when I’m coming through here and it’s gonna be a completely different story. Now everyone was present. Everyone heard the goodness of God in their own language. And this changed the game, has changed the game completely because it shows us that jesus does not have a desire for anyone to perish. It’s God’s desire that no man should perish. And the text shows us that jesus is for everyone, not a select group of people that speak of a specific language, but the Lord wants all to come to repentance and he wants us and he wants all of us to experience his love and once all of us to experience his love. We see this by by Peter’s sermon when he gets up and he speaks the truth about what took place, The Holy Spirit so falls upon him. He gets up and speaks with conviction, speaks with authority, speaks with power. And we realized that there is two responses that take place to uh the power of the Holy Ghost in this moment. There’s too responsive. Uh all, all of them were amazed. They were perplexed and they say to one another, what does this mean? They’re bewildered. They’re wondering, oh my gosh, I’m hearing the goodness of God in my own language. And and uh these people should not know my language, but yet here they are speaking my language, what does this mean? But then there are others, there’s another response, The others are mocking and they say, oh they’re drunk, they’re filled with new wine. It was just drunk. And Peter gets up and he says yes, we are filled with new wine. But it’s not the wine that you’re speaking about. It’s not the wine that you’re thinking about, this is the wine, the new wine that the Lord spoke about, The wine of the Holy Ghost. And we realized he says, look we’re not drunk, it’s too early in the day for all that Peter says. And then he speaks the gospel, the good news of jesus christ. And then he lets them know. At the end of verse 37 it lets us know their response to Peter’s message to Peter’s sermon. This is a response that you can only hold put on your best day, right? Uh This is what happens, it says in verse 37 of Acts chapter two. Now when they heard this, they heard Peter’s sermon, they were cut to the heart and they said to Peter and the rest of the apostles brothers, what what shall we do? And Peter says to them, repent, be baptized every one of you in the name of jesus christ, for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit for the promise is for you and for your Children and for all who are far off, for everyone for whom the Lord our God calls to himself and with many other words, he bore witness and continue to exhort them saying, save yourself from this crooked generation. So those who receive the word were baptized and were added that day. About 3000 souls what a response what an altar call? 3000 individuals were ushered into the body of jesus christ the body of believers that day as a result of that message. But it lets us know that jesus is for everyone, the Holy Spirit is for everyone. He said, look, this is for you, this is for your Children, this is for your Children’s Children. For all of those who are far off everyone who our Lord God calls to him himself. The Spirit is about unity, not just about a specific language or specific Gruden, it’s about unity. Everyone coming together speaking the language of the Spirit, speaking the language of the Lord. And they were all amazed and perplexed, saying, what does this mean? They said, this is with new wine. You realize that as they made this joke, they didn’t realize how close they were to the truth, they said, oh they’re just drunk and filled with new wine. Didn’t realize how close they were because jesus said to his disciples what he said, look, ah No one puts a piece of an shrunk cloth on an old garment for the patch will tear away from the garment and a worse tear is made, neither is new wine put into old wine skins, if it is the skins burst and the wine is spilled and the skins are destroyed. But new wine is poured into fresh wine skins and both are preserved. The Holy Spirit is dwelling in the new our old ways. The old ways, we used to think the way we used to be cannot hold new wine. The old ways we used to live cannot hold new wine. Our world habits cannot hold new wine, and God wants to do a new thing. And we see that at work here in the text. And I believe that the foreshadowing of what’s going on, uh this is a foreshadowing of the, of the gentiles ultimately being included into the plan of salvation. Every language was heard. And even though Peter was speaking to predominantly jews there at the time, they didn’t fully understand that the gentiles would be included in what was taking place. Because why the Lord cares about unity. And if the Lord cares about unity, we should too. The Lord cares about unity. We should too. If one of the highlights of Pentecost is unity being displayed amongst people that have differences, We should care about that. Unity is a model that is seen from the very beginning of creation Genesis 1 26, then God said, let us make man in our image after our likeness. And let them have Dominion over the fish, over the sea, over the birds of the heaven, over the livestock, over the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth. God said, What? Let us make man in our image? That’s unity on display. That’s unity crystal clear for all to see. God is not saying, oh God, the father is not saying, oh I want a man to look this way more so like me. And jesus is saying no, no more, so like me. The holy spirit, motion like me. No, no, let us make man in our image. Perfect Unity. God the father God the son God, the holy ghost to trinity, working together as one and unity is important in our lives. We need to know this. God knows this. The enemy also knows this, that unity is important. The enemy works diligently. Just as we said, unity takes work. The enemy is working to stop us from attaining unity and he desires a very different outcome for us. He loves to divide. He loves to separate. He loves to isolate you all know the term, We’re familiar with, the term divide and conquer. Oftentimes, the reason why we are conquered so often is because we’re already divided and in the church, the enemy can come right in often times and whisper something to someone, Get a thought, get a gossip going, get a rumor going and there goes, there goes your unity, there goes, your teamwork Loves to divide and conquer. We see this in once again near the beginning. In Genesis Chapter three, the serpent was more crafty than any of the beasts of the field and he immediately causes a wedge between God and man by saying to the woman, did God actually say you shall not eat of any tree in the garden? And she says, yes, he’s if we read it, we’re going to die and he contradicts what the Lord says and lies flat out says, oh you’re not gonna die. The Lord knows when you eat of it, your eyes will be opened, you will be like God knowing good and evil. He lied to Eve. He deceived man and what we see happening with this deception. It wasn’t just it wasn’t just a lie, but it was a specific lie about the nature of God, about the heart of God. He’s keeping something from you. He doesn’t want you to be like him, He knows that you will and he wants to continually be better than you. It was driving a wedge between God and man. It was dividing so that he could conquer. But little did they know that they were created in his image. They were already like him. And oftentimes for us, the enemy creeps in and lies to us to get us isolated, lies to us to have us feeling alone, lies to us to keep us in bondage lies to us and keeps us stuck. And oftentimes we fall victims to to the things that happen in our lives in those seasons of isolation. And now don’t get those seasons where uh don’t get the seasons where the Lord isolates you confused with times when the enemy comes in and distracts you and drives you away. There are seasons and times when the Lord will take you to himself and say, hey, you need to fast. You need to disconnect, you need to draw closer to me for yourself. And those are beautiful times. But do not confuse those. We see jesus doing this. What does the text say? The spirit drove, jesus into the wilderness to be tempted. That was a solitary time, but who was leading at the Spirit Elijah, Also fasted by himself, moses also fasted by himself. Those are wonderful times. But the enemy will try and isolate you from the rest of the pack to knock you off course. And another thing that can keep us from unity is pride. Pride will kill. Pride will destroy poet laureate J cole said himself, The Pride is the devil right? And what we realized in today’s day and age is that Pride will, if we let it run its course, it will eat away at us and it will keep us isolated from the people. Keep us isolated from community, keep us isolated from constructive things that will build us up. So we want to surrender to the Lord so we can have unity and it starts with us realizing that number one, we have to walk in the spirit to do this and to do this correctly, we have to realize that we are not our own, we are not our own Ephesians. Chapter four paul writes and says I therefore a prisoner of the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called with humility, gentleness, patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. We are not our own, so we must walk worthy paul refers to himself as a prisoner of the Lord. Yes, the Lord has given us freedom, but we also walk in a way that is pleasing to him, realize that we are not our own and also that we must walk worthy John chapter 13 The Lord says by this, people will, you know, will know that you are my disciples. If you have love for one another, we expect people to know that we love jesus this because we say it. No, but how do we show it? Do we have love for our brothers? Do we have love for our sisters? Are we speaking the language of love, the language of unity or always too busy burning bridges and being divided. We have to realize that maintaining unity takes work and attaining unity is also work. We have to maintain and attain unity because you can have a car, but maintaining a car is a completely different thing. You can have a car attained. But maintaining it and keeping it running, keeping it healthy, keeping it functioning, all these different things are two different things that is applicable in so many different areas of life so we can attain unity. But maintaining unity is something that takes work. We need to have unity with others. We also have to have unity with ourselves. It’s important to have unity within ourselves. The bible says what a double minded man is unstable in all of his ways and we realize that for us in Philippians chapter four verse seven uh the text says all the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in christ, jesus, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, honorable, whatever is just pure lovely, commendable. If there is any excellence, anything worthy of praise, think on these things which you have learned and received and heard and seen in me practice these things and the peace of God will be with you. The bible is clear on the fact that we as believers must be at peace within ourselves, Jesus says. What love your the greatest commandment is what love the Lord, your God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength, and the second is like it, Love your neighbor as yourself. You have to have peace within yourself. You have to fight to love yourself, you have to have unity within yourself. So we have to have unity with others. Unity with ourselves. And the last component is we have to have a unity with the Spirit. The spirit of God Galatians chapter five says. But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control against such things. There is no law and those who belong to jesus christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited when it conceded, provoking one another, envying one another. It’s so important for us to realize that walking in the spirit is something that also takes work, but it means being led by the Spirit and being in step with the spirit and being in unity with the spirit. That means there are things that we can do things that we can’t do, things that we can engage in. Things that we can’t engage in. If we live by the Spirit, we must keep in step and walk with the spirit. And what’s the thing that that that the text ends with, Let us not be conceited, be prideful provoking one another, envying one another, we must walk in the ways of the Spirit and realize that through the power of God through the power of the Holy Spirit and when Pentecost happened and everything that that took place, there took place, it changed the trajectory of humanity. It changed everything. And for us today reading this and understanding that we’re living in now the time when we have to walk, not being led by a physical jesus that we can see and he would say, okay, follow me down this corner, make it right here. Alright, let’s make a left hand. No, no. Now we are led by the spirit of God and all who are led by the spirit of God, the text says are the sons of God and as siblings, as brothers and sisters in christ we must fight for unity. We cannot be those that are just stuck on milk. I’m doing what it is that we want to do and saying okay, as long as I’m happy, I’m satisfied, I’m good. No, no, not so we must fight for unity with our brothers and sisters. And this comes by walking in the spirit as I close and as the team comes up it’s so important for us to realize that in today’s day and age, unity is something that is attainable but it’s not seen as something that is attractive for us. Oftentimes we say, okay, if I can just look out for me, look out for number one, but no, no, we are called to live countercultural in today’s day and age. We are called to not just to come out on top and not, we are called not to come out on top in a way where we disadvantage are brother and sister, but we are called to walk in a way that gives glory to God, but also uplifts our brother uplifts our sister. When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place and I believe that’s where the spirit wants us today is to be together in one place. So we are here and we are the church of the true and living God. And my prayer today is that we will fight for unity, fight for peace and walk in the ways of the Spirit, not just on this Pentecost sunday, but on every day that follows.
