Surrender Your Reset
Surrender Your Reset
Hello everyone and thank you so much for joining me today. My name is Roderick caesar the third on the lead pastor of Bethel Gospel Tabernacle in Jamaica queens new york. And I’m so excited that you decided to join me for the full gospel hour right here on global seven, my prayers that you will be blessed, you’ll be encouraged and inspired by this message. Thank you so much for joining and God bless today, I’d like to talk about reset. That is our word for the year. I’d like to talk about reset and God doing a new thing in our lives. Uh, but when, when God does something new in our lives, we’re excited about it. Were excited about the fresh thing that God is doing, we pray with expectancy, Lord do something new Lord shift some things around God. I like, I like a more of this or less of this or take this away. You’re giving me strength as I go through this and we’ll be praying to God for different things. And many of us, we would, we would like to uh, control I guess is the word how God moves in our lives, God move here, change this, fix this, we want God to move, we want God to do something new. We want God to do something fresh, but we often like to be in control of when it would happen to know what it is that God is going to do. Uh, and to know what we have to change in order to see God do what God is going to do. Uh, and I think a lot of times for us, we need to uh understand that we need to lay some things down in order. God in order for God to move. But we want to be in control of what we lay down. We want to be in control of what we let go of. We want to be in control of of the moving parts and moving pieces. But you know, we’ve learned many lessons last year and one of the last year that I’m hoping we’re taking into this year. And one of the things that we’ve learned is you have the illusion of control. You have the illusion of understanding and saying, okay, I’m prepared. I know the illusion of knowing. But when something happens that uh you’re not prepared for or that you feel okay, I’m out of control in what happens to you. What happens with your response when the Lord calls you maybe with this new thing that we’re praying for, the new shift that God that we’re trusting God to do? What happens when the Lord calls you to give up something to release control? What happens when the Lord calls you to lay down your sin? What happens when the Lord calls you to stop making excuses? What happens when the Lord calls you to? Yes, reset button to reset his way to reset his way. That’s what we’re gonna look at today. It’s a familiar topic. The title of this message is surrender your reset uh follow along with me on the screens of the book of john chapter six versus one through 15, john chapter six versus one through 15. After this, jesus went away to the other side of galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias and a large crowd was following him because they saw the signs that he was doing on the sick. Jesus went up on the mountain and there he sat down with his disciples. Now the Passover, the feast of the jews was at hand lifting up his eyes then and seeing a large crowd was coming toward him, Jesus said to Philip, Where are we to buy bread so that these people may eat, he said this to test him for he himself knew what he would do, Philip answered him. 200 Denarii worth of bread would not be enough for each of them to get a little one of his disciples Andrew Simon Simon Peter’s brother said to him. There is a boy here who has five Barley loaves and two fish, but what are they for? So many jesus said, Have the people sit down Now, there was much grass in the place, so the men sat down and there was about 5000 in number jesus then took the loaves and when he had given thanks he distributed them to those who were seated and and so also the fish as much as they wanted and when they had eaten their fill, he told his disciples gather up the leftover fragments so that nothing may be lost. So they gathered them up and filled 12 baskets with the fragments from the five Barley loaves uh by left by those who had eaten. When the people saw the signs that he had done, they said this is indeed the prophet who has come into the world perceiving then that they were about to come and take him by force to make him King Jesus withdrew again to the mountain by himself. Surrender your reset. Let’s pray. Dear God, I thank you so much for this time. Thank you for your word. I thank you for your people. I thank you father for the ability and the strength that you’ve given us Father to reset, but not only that to surrender are reset and to be uh submitted to your will, submit it to your way. I pray father that as the word has gone forth Father that you would be glorified that you would do it only you can do in the lives of your people. We thank you for those that are watching and for those that are streaming along with us. I pray father that you would just encourage them and strengthen them in this time. We thank you and praise you in Jesus name. Amen surrender your reset. Uh, if you guys think back, you may remember the sermon series that we did called, I surrender, I surrender. Speaking about us needing to surrender to God, surrender to his will, surrender to his way uh, surrender and have him lead. The very first message that we talked about in that series was follow the leader and jesus said if anyone would come after me, let him deny himself pick up his cross and follow me. And so for us, we’re realizing that surrender a dictionary defined surrender is to give up oneself as into the power of another to submit or to yield to be in a relationship with jesus christ to live out. This christian walk uh, is it’s to, it’s a call to live life more abundantly, it’s a call to be free for freedom’s sake. A call to jesus christ. A call to surrender is a call to become a new creation. A call to surrender and walk out in jesus christ and walk out in the ways he’s called us to walk and be led by the spirit is a call to do works greater than jesus did a call to christ and a call to surrender is a call to walk by faith, jesus calls us all to surrender. You cannot get a life more abundantly, you cannot get free, you cannot become a new creation or do greater works. You can’t do any of these things without surrender. We want all of these things, but are we willing to surrender for it, surrender is the doorway the doorway to eternal life. The doorway to walking by faith and not by sight. The doorway to not just becoming free but remaining free. The doorway to not remaining the old man or the old nature or the old creation, but becoming a new creation. It’s all seen through the doorway of surrender. It’s all obtained through walking through the doorway of surrender. And the thing is not everything and not everyone can fit through the doorway. When we say, okay, this is a narrow road that the Lord calls us to. It’s important for us to then assess what we have with us on this road and say, okay, can I take everything with me or should I leave some things behind? You cannot bring everything with you through the doorway of surrender. Some things have to stay behind. You cannot also bring everyone with you on the doorway of surrender. Some people have to stay behind as well. And when we’re speaking of surrendering in this for this message, we’re speaking about surrendering are reset, are reset. What is the reset? The reset is to start over again or to start over and do things differently. The reset is the starting over. And so for us, a lot of times we’ll say, God, I want to start over and we have a picture of what that means for us. I want to press reset God. And we say, okay, that means this is gonna be an order. That means this is gonna look this way or that’s going to look that way because it’s all reset its are reset. And so it’s a personal thing. Yes. God calls us to a corporate life. Yes. God calls us to walk with one another and alongside one another as believers. But it’s also something that is personal. It’s your reset. That God calls us to surrender, surrender your reset. We have a responsibility as individuals to surrender not just as a, as a group, not just as a collective, not just as a small group, not just as a church, but as an individual, you have a responsibility to surrender your reset to say, okay God, this is what I want. This is what I see. This is what I’m praying for. But God, I submit this to you. It may not look like exactly how I pictured it because it’s my reset. But you’re in control. It’s the reset that I want. But you’re the one that’s pressing the button. God, I pray Father, I surrender my reset. If we are going to as a church, if we are going to as a people, if we are going to as individuals, if we are going to make a difference in this world, make a difference in the lives of those that we love. Make a difference in the lives of individuals that we maybe don’t know if we’re going to make a difference. We must do things differently. If we’re going to make a difference. we must do things differently. You cannot play church and make a difference. You can’t wear your mask and make a difference. You can’t change only to the level of your comfort and make a difference. We have to do things differently. And often for us, what that means is relinquishing control. It means giving up maybe what we’re accustomed to giving up, maybe what we’re comfortable with, giving up what makes us us so that God can have his way. And oftentimes for us, we want to do things for God, We want to step out in faith, we want to uh, please God, but we want to do it on our terms. You want to do it our way. But I believe there is a lot that can be learned from this young boy and his lunch. And what Jesus did with this boy’s lunch in the first five verses of our text in the book of john we see that Jesus is being followed by a large crowd, There’s a large group of people that is following jesus and this wasn’t anything that was strange to jesus, jesus from the very start of his ministry. We see he was someone that was followed that was chased after specifically when he was doing signs and wonders and miracles because, you know, no one sees someone that that’s able to heal them and say, I don’t want that, I’m good. You know, I think they saw or heard about the blind eyes that were open, they heard about the deaf ears that were now able to hear, They heard about the individual with leprosy that was cured. They heard about miracles, signs and wonders that pointed to the kingdom, but they weren’t so worried about the kingdom, they just wanted the miracles, the signs and the wonders and so when they go to follow jesus, they go and clamor around him and jesus, the text says, lifted up his eyes and he looks around and he sees this large crowd coming towards him and uh we see that he’s followed by this crowd. They want to be blessed by his ministry and this is an event in scripture that is captured in all four of the gospels. Matthew Mark luke and john not just in the synoptic gospels, Matthew, Mark and luke, but this is also in john and Matthew’s account of this Gospel says that he looked up, he saw a great crowd and jesus had compassion on them and healed their sick, they were able to experience his miracles, they were able to experience his goodness. They were able to experience the realities of the Kingdom from as as it is uh from heaven as it is on yeah on earth as it is in heaven, they were able to experience those realities because jesus saw them and had compassion on them and so he healed them and did miraculous signs and wonders, but he didn’t just stop there, he didn’t just stop there, what we realized is that they were hungry and so he said I’m going to not only feed them spiritually, but I want to feed them physically as well, So Jesus says give them something to eat now, this lets us know that Jesus had a compassionate heart, but the 12 that were with him didn’t see things the way that Jesus saw things in Matthew, it says that the disciples came to Jesus and said this is a desolate place and the day is now over, so send the crowds away to go into the villages and buy food for themselves, the disciples are like look jesus um you know time is time is well spent, it’s getting kind of late, you know there’s a lot of people here so send them away, they got their miracles, send them away and they can get their own food, but jesus response says they don’t need to go away, you give them something to eat and disciples are like wait, which her, what you see, how many people there are, do you see us late in the day, there’s no way we can get this thing accomplished but in them saying, you know we don’t, we don’t in them saying that the people need to go away in them saying that we need to send the people away, they were missing God’s heart, missing what God wanted to do, missing the new thing that jesus wanted to do, jesus said yes, I can do miraculous things, but you have me in a box and I want you to take me out of it. Yes, you’re saying yes, this is a good reset. Yeah, God is doing something new. I’m doing a miracle here, I’m you know, uh healing the blind here, I’m casting demons out here, I’m doing this, this, this but there’s something else I got for you, Something else I have that you may not even know about. So then he says, you give them something to eat. He tests, he says this to test them for he knew what he would do, Philip Answers and says, look, 200 dinari worth of bread won’t be enough for each person here to get a little. So this is a lot of bread, A lot of money is worth of bread won’t be enough to get these people a little bit and then his disciples Andrew Simon Peter’s brother said to jesus, there’s a boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish. But what are they for? So many jesus says has the people sit down, there’s much grass in the place, he takes the loaves, he gives thanks, he distributes it to those who are seated and also with the fish as much as they wanted when they’re sitting. The people down, they take account of how many people there are And there’s 5000 men that’s it. Just men, not counting women, not counting Children and jesus asks and says, look, is there any food among them? Is there any is there any any any food anywhere they find this boy with the loaves and fish? But what I want us to see here is that in order for jesus to do something new? The boy had to let go of his meal in order for jesus to do something new. The boy had to let go of his meal and put it in the hands of jesus. He had to surrender in order for the re set to take place. He had to surrender in order for God to do something new with his meal. This is absolutely huge. It cannot be overstated how important this is. He had to surrender. The boy didn’t say okay, I’m gonna hold on to one loaf of bread and one fish and then give the rest. The boy didn’t say I’m gonna hold on, you know, to my my leftovers here, behind my back, so nobody knows and I’m just gonna give this little bit here. He gave everything that he had all he had with his lunch that his mom packed for him. He gave it to jesus and put it in jesus hands. He surrendered to see the reset and he also had to relinquish control, He didn’t say okay, jesus, let me break the bread with you, okay jesus, let me uh you know uh put my hands on your hands as you’re praying and you know, just see how, how, how we can divvy this up, so I can still have some left for myself. He put it all in jesus hands, he had to relinquish control. And I think this is why for many of us we have difficulty seeing a move of God in our lives or a reset in our lives because we wanted our way or the highway, we want it. We want to say, okay, I’m gonna hold on to this God, I want to take a little bit of this for myself. But then you can have some for other people as well, but God is saying, no, no, I want to do this my way, jesus, I don’t think Jesus went and and and snatch the food. I don’t think Jesus was like, yo let’s see, we got any food here, him, peter, get him, peter goes up. Snatches, forgive me that we got to go, you know, bless these people. I think this boy willingly said when they went around, think about this, there’s 5000 men in this crowd, not counting women, not counting Children. I think they’re trying to say anybody has food here food, food, food, the this profit needs some food, The teacher needs some, some food, He’s gonna do something amazing here and he sees this boy was there and witnessed probably some miracles taking place, realizes everyone’s hungry and I don’t think that they realized that, that everyone would be. I don’t think he realized that everyone would be fed, but he said, I can give what I have, we’ll see what happens with it. And out of him being willing to surrender places his food in the hands of God, in the hands of jesus. And little becomes much because he placed it in the master’s hands and often what I want us to get here is that jesus did not make bread and fish appear out of thin air. Jesus didn’t say you guys hungry voila. Food feasts people feast. Jesus did not do that, although that probably was not outside of the realm of of what he could do. That’s one of the things he was tempted with. If you’re the son of God, turn this stone into bread so he probably could have been like bread for everyone turned everything into bread, you know. But instead he used what this boy had and oftentimes God will use what we have. But we must first surrender. God will use what we have. But first we must surrender. I want us to pause on this story quickly and think back to moses moses. Life In Exodus. Chapter four we see that the Lord speaks to moses through a burning bush and he says to moses what is in your hands and moses looks in his hands and exodus four verse two and he says, oh, a staff is in my hand. The Lord instructs him to throw the staff to the ground. The staff becomes a snake moses ends up being fearful. The Lord says, pick up the snake, he picks it up, it becomes a staff again. And later on. The Lord says in exodus 4 17. Take this staff in your hand and then you shall go and do these signs, Take this staff in your hand and then you shall go and do these signs. God used what moses had. He didn’t give moses a staff. This was the staff that moses had but he placed it under God’s authority and something miraculous took place and we often think that it’s about the things. Yes. The things are important. Yes, but we submit to God is important. But we have to be in a position to be used. We have to be in a position so that we can reset God’s way. We have to be in a position so that we can surrender and reset God’s way because moses tried to surrender his way. Excuse me, moses tried to reset his way, not surrender his way. He tried to reset his way. If we go back a little bit before moses met the Lord and the Burning Bush in Exodus. Chapter two. When Moses was grown up. He had privilege in Egypt, but yet he still knew that he was separate from the Egyptians. He saw that he knew that he was one of the Israelites, but he had privileged in Egypt exodus Chapter Two says one day when moses had grown up, he went out to his people to look on their burdens. He had a heart for the burdens of his people. Even though he was raised in an Egyptian home. He knew that he was not Egyptian, but he saw an Egyptian beating a hebrew. One of his people, Verse 12 of exodus. Chapter two says he looked this way he looked that way, look up, looked down, looked around, looked everywhere And Seeing No one. He struck down the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. He killed the Egyptian and hit him in the sand. I want you don’t want you guys to get this because I I don’t think we grasp this moses killed this Egyptian. He saw no one. This is premeditated. He looked around and say, yo ain’t nobody here. All right, let’s do this my way! Kill this Egyptian and buried him in the sand. When he went out the next day, like nothing had happened to Hebrews were struggling wrestling with each other fighting together and he said to the person that was in the wrong, Why do you strike your companion and this hebrew just woke up today and chose to be reckless. He said, look who made you a prince and a judge over us. Do you mean to kill me like you killed that Egyptian and moses was afraid and thought surely the thing is known and when pharaoh heard of what took place, he tried to kill moses. But moses fled from pharaoh and stayed in the land of Midian. And then he sat down by a well moses realized that his people were being oppressed. He realized that something wrong was happening. That something that he couldn’t explain as to why this was taking place. He saw one of his people being oppressed, being beaten, being mistreated and says I’m going to reset, I’m gonna make this right, I’m going to make this new, I’m going to handle this situation in my way. Took matters into his own hands. I thought that nobody saw thought that no one was looking thought he was making things better. When instead he had to flee because now his life was at risk. He killed him in, took someone’s life and then said to somebody else, why do you hurt your companion? That’s moses his way of trying to make things right. That’s moses way of trying to make things better. So then moses flees becomes a shepherd in the land of Midian gets married, has a life that’s separate from his life of Egypt now makes a new name for himself. All these different things. Uh but then God knocks on moses door one day moses out maybe chasing after a sheep and shepherd in doing what he’s doing and the Lord speaks to him through a burning bush and at this time he introduces himself. He says, I’m the Lord, your God, the Lord, the God of Abraham Isaac and Jacob. I’ve called you just I’m gonna send you to pharaoh That you may bring this exodus. Chapter three. That you may bring my people the Children of Israel out of Egypt. But moses said to God, who am I? That I should go to pharaoh and bring the Children of Israel out of Egypt, he said, but I will be with you and this shall be assigned for you. That I have sent you when you were brought the people out of out of Egypt. You shall serve God on this mountain moses way is look, let me just kill this person and and make it right my way. God’s way is no, no, no. I’m going to have you confront the source of the problem. I’m going to have you go in my authority and speak to the source of the problem. Instead of dealing with a symptom of the problem. Many of us, we deal with uh symptoms and think that’s reset. But God says, no, no. I’ve called you to deal with the source. I’ve called you to speak to that thing and to speak, speak to it with my authority. You’re not going in your own authority. You’re going in my authority. That’s why when moses speaks to pharaoh. And he says, he says uh the Lord of the the hebrews has commanded you to let them go and he and pharaohs responses, Yo, who is this God? Who is this God of the Hebrews? I don’t know any God. I am God. And so we see that now God has to do a hard reset uh in the lives of the life of everyone in Egypt because pharaoh has such a tight grip. But God’s way is different than moses way moses way only reaches one level. God’s way breaks through all the barriers and freeze the people. God’s way says, okay, we’re going to go as a united front. We’re going to speak truth to power. We are going to uh through the miracles that God has bestowed upon moses free the people of Israel. So God’s way is different from moses way and in the same way God is different. God’s way is different from our way. And I want us to get this as well because uh later on before they before moses goes, he tries to make an excuse in exodus. Chapter four verse 13 moses says to the Lord moses says to the Lord, you called me to go to Egypt. But I’m not eloquent either in the past or since you have spoken to me, I’m not eloquent. I’m not good at speech. I have slow speech and of tongue. And the Lord said to him, who has made man’s mouth who makes him mute or deaf or seeing or blind, is it not I the Lord now therefore go, I will be with your mouth and I shall teach you what to speak. But moses says, oh Lord, please send someone else. Our way leaves a mess. Our way could keep us safe, but it also keeps us running from responsibility. You see, and moses said, oh God, I have an excuse. This is why I can’t go God. Like look, I’m not worried about your speech Who’s in control? Here is me. I’m the one in control. You’re saying you want to reset. You told me all those years ago when you uh killed that man. Unfortunately that that this is something that was on your heart. You went about it the complete wrong way, but I’m still willing to use you so that my people can be freed. And moses says, oh, I’m slow of tongue, I can’t speak well. And and that’s the thing moses was uh confident in his in his physicality and him being able to attack and kill this man. But when it came time to speak and to confront truth to power, he said, I I have a problem. I stammer. I started my I can’t speak very well. And God said, I’m not worried about all that. I just want to know, Will you be obedient? I just want to know. I just want to get to the heart of the matter, see what you’re dealing with. This surface stuff. But I want to get to the heart of it. Our way leaves a mess. It keeps us safe. It has us running from responsibility sometimes. But God’s way. Yes. God’s way is dangerous. Yes. God’s way of resetting is unconventional. Yes. God’s way of resetting is unordinary, but it is God’s way. So we must submit to the process and uh reset and surrender are reset. And I think that’s something amazing that we can learn from moses life. The fact that our way can be so contrary to God’s way and we don’t see it that way because of maybe the similar threads and we focus on the similarity is like, oh God, but I had a heart for your people are hard to see your people free. Yeah. But how do you go about that? How did you go about making that happen? Is it a way that you can still stand before God and men and not be ashamed and not run away? He ran as soon as he was confronted about this murder when he comes to God, he comes with his face hidden before the Lord. As we see as God begins to work on him later on that uh things begin to shift. So for us, we need to submit our way to God’s way and say, look, no matter how well we may mean we need to be able to say God, is this the step you want me to take in order to reset because I don’t want to miss step and have a mess that is buried or something. I need to clean up later. So thank you God for that illustration and for moses. And but let’s let’s resume our story with this boy and the food he gave of himself. He gave of this food so that others may eat. He was willing to let the food go so that jesus could have his way. They said, there’s a boy here Who has five Barley loaves and two fish. But what are they for? So many? Jesus took the loaves when he gave thanks, he distributed them to everyone who was seated. So they ate all the fish as much as they wanted. So they had the bread, they had the fish as much as they wanted. The reset was not placed in the boy’s hands, it was placed in jesus hands. And for many of us we may try to control our reset and say, this is what I need to do. This is how I need to do it, this is this, this is this. But the boy took what he had and put it in God’s hands and it became the same thing, but something different the same thing, but something multiplied. The reset was placed in jesus hands. The boy did not try to control it. He let it go. And because of that, because of him letting go of the reset process. Maybe his mother was fed, maybe his father was fed his friends that he knew that were there in the crowd. Were fed, their parents were fed the multitude, The individuals that were there that he maybe did not know. Everyone was fed and he was fed. Sometimes we think that when we let something go on and give it to God that uh, we’re gonna get cheated or somehow God doesn’t have our best interests at heart. The text says that everyone ate their fill, They ate as much as they wanted of the bread and the fish. If he had just kept it, he would have been the only one fed, He would have been the only one full. But his mother probably could have gone hungry. His father would have gone hungry that day. Those friends would have gone hungry that day. Those individuals that he doesn’t know or didn’t know would have gone hungry that day, but instead he was obedient placed his reset his food in the Lord’s hands and God reset it and made it new. It’s still fish. It’s still bread, but now it’s able to feed everyone that’s present. What will God do with what you place in his hands? What will God do with what you place in his hand? Some things he’s called us to put down and never pick up again. Those sinful things, those things that, that keep us away from keep us from being, uh, the people, he’s called us to be those things that keep us from living in the light with God and others, some things he’s called us to lay down completely. What other things God’s called us to put in his hands so that others can be blessed. So the others can be blessed and we can be blessed as well. So a question I have is whose blessing are we blocking by holding on to what we should let go of because it wasn’t just the boy that got Fed, it was everyone that got fed. And the Lord has called us to be an influence influencer to be a person of influence. And you know, social media kind of has a twisted because a lot of times we’ll look and say, oh, this person is an influencer or this person influences this or influences that. And we only say, we only think of someone with a certain amount of followers or clout or popularity that this person is an influencer. And then it makes, it makes you think as though, okay, well do I have influence? But yes, you have influence, no matter how big or no matter how small your circle you have influence and God has given you the ability to influence others. The question is, will you do what’s necessary to maintain that influence and to bless other people? Are we blocking someone’s blessing by holding on to something that we should let go of. I think it’s so important to realize that in surrendering the reset? The boy had to let go of the food. He had to let it go completely. And then the text says in verse 12 when they had eaten their fill, he told his disciples gather up the leftover fragments so that nothing may be lost so that nothing may be lost. A lot of times were scared to put our gifts in God’s hands. We’re scared to uh put the resources that God has given us into his hands because somehow we maybe think he’s going to miss something. But nothing was wasted. They gathered up the leftovers. First of all, there was leftovers. That’s that’s amazing. There was leftover, that’s that’s miracle right there. That’s that’s a whole another miracle whole another message there was leftovers, all those people were fed and there was leftovers. But they gathered up the leftovers so that nothing may be lost in your obedience to God. God wastes nothing. God wastes nothing. So as you reset and you say, oh well, you know, I had this planned out so that as I reset, you know, I had this much in my savings and I was ready to do X, Y and z. And you know, I I had this uh this schedule planned out so I was ready to do uh B. C. D. And I was ready to, you know, you have everything all planned out but maybe things begin to shift as you put them in God’s hands and he’s leading you in a different way, realize that nothing will be wasted, that nothing will be wasted and there’s always a ripple effect. We have no idea how much God can bless others through our obedience. So that was the boy and his obedience and him submitting to the reset and surrendering his reset And the text says they gathered them up. They filled the 12 baskets with fragments from the five loaves and when the people saw what they had done, they said, this is indeed the prophet who has come into the world because of his obedience. God was glorified because of his obedience, that nobody said, oh, hurry to this boy, Yes, thank God for this boy. Yeah, we think we praise, we praise this boy. We’re gonna lift this boy up and the boys gonna become king. They weren’t paying attention to the boy like that. It was jesus that did the miracle and many of us in surrendering the reset and you know, praying for God to do something new. We want to be in the spotlight. We want to be the one that the praise goes to or want to be the one that is recognized. But oftentimes, you know, that recognition comes in the kingdom of heaven. Oftentimes Jesus is the one that season says, I salute you, I applaud you and we have to be careful to always give honor to God to always give glory to God. It’s always give praise to God. And so they said, this is indeed the prophet who has come into the world, they’re looking to jesus. They’re realizing that he is a prophet. They’re realizing that he is this person who’s coming to the world for a time such as this. And this all happened because this boy was willing to give of himself, give of his his food and in the same way the things that we submit to the Lord, the things that we surrender to the Lord, the things that we placed in his hand are supposed to point others to him. And I want you to see Jesus reset or jesus willingness to surrender the reset. In verse 15, Jesus says that perceiving that they were about to come and take him away by force to make him king, Jesus withdrew again to the mountain by himself surrendering are reset. Isn’t something that Jesus did not live out. Jesus lived a life of surrender every day and there was a specific way for the reset to come to pass and we realized that that was the way that Jesus did not want to take when jesus prays in the garden of Gethsemane, the Lord, not my will, but your will be done. He did not want the cross, but that was the route of surrender. That was the route of reset. That was the route of jesus saying, I make all things new, he had to go that way. You could have tried it this way In verse 15, it says that they were coming by force to make him king. When jesus speaks to pilot, he says, look my kingdom is not of this world. If it were those that are with me and on my side would have been fighting for me, but my kingdom is not of this world. So Jesus had an understanding, he says often my bread, my food is to do the will of him who sent me. Jesus had an understanding of not only who he was, but how this reset was supposed to come about and man’s way is okay let’s make him king, let’s make him a uh this this messiah, this king that’s going to save us from roman rule and that would have taken care of just Israel and that’s it, that would have been a manmade monarchy, a man made thing and that would have only lasted but so long. We would not be able to experience salvation. If Jesus said, okay, I’m going to be their king and just do what they want and just serve here on earth. Jesus had a different perspective because he knew the reset was, was to be God ordained. So Jesus lived this out and he retreated by himself when he was their candidate for to be a king because he did not want a kingdom that God was not pleased with, he didn’t want a kingdom that God was not pleased with. So as I close, when speaking of surrendering are reset. I want to go back to some of the points that I made when we first talked about surrendering. And uh and following the leader that in order to surrender our our reset, we have to have a new way to walk. We have to walk firstly, walk in the spirit. If you walk in the spirit, you will not gratify the flesh. Acts. Chapter 1: verse eight says, you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, judea samaria and the ends of the earth. The Spirit of God leads us. The Spirit of God convicts us. The Spirit of God empowers us to live a life that is pleasing unto God. So in order to uh to surrender our reset, we must walk in the spirit secondly, in order to surrender our reset, we must walk in the word in the word psalm 1 19 verse 105 says, Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. So I’m 1 19 says, how can a young man keep his way pure by guarding it according to your word. How do we expect to submit? Are reset? To surrender our reset? If we’re not in the word Saints of God, we must be led by the spirit, but we also must be in the Word the Word of God directs us. The Word of God informs us the word of God anchors us as we live out this God pleasing life 3rd and finally we surrender our reset. We don’t do this alone, but we surrender with his people with his people. Text says that iron just as iron sharpens iron. So one man sharpens another psalms one verses one and two said Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked nor stands in the way of sinners nor sits in the seat of scoffers. But his delight is in the law of the Lord and on it he meditates day and night. Blessed is the man who knocked who walks not in the counsel nor stands in the way of sinners nor sits in the seat of scoffers. Who are we hanging around? If we’re going to surrender our reset we must be around the right people. The people of God help us to sharpen ourselves. They give us a place to confess so we can be healed and reflect christ through healthy community. Those are some things that can help us to surrender are reset. Remember though as we surrender our reset. It’s not a one time thing. It’s not a one time thing. Every day we must pick up our cross and follow. So we must surrender on repeat. You guys remember this, surrender on repeat has to be a continuous action to continue to surrender each and every day. Secondly we must surrender on mission on purpose. We must understand that God has called us into the earth for such a time as this for such a season as this. So surrender when you surrender and when you surrender your reset, realized that it’s for something that’s bigger than you. You’re surrendering on mission on on purpose. 3rd. And finally we must surrender on time, recalled here for a time such as this. The text says that David served his generation for his time for us. For as long as God gives us breath, we want to be able to surrender our reset because there’s something that God has called us to do in the earth for a time for a season such as this. Let us not grow weary and doing well. Let us not grow weary and surrendering are reset. And following jesus remember that this boy who gave up his loaves, who gave up his fish had to do this, he had to surrender in order for God to work. God didn’t make the bread and the loaves and the fish and all these things out of thin air. But he used what this boy was willing to give up. And in the same way we must surrender are reset to God so that God can be glorified and have his way. Let us pray. Dear God, I thank you so much for your people. I thank you Father for your son’s. I thank you for your daughters. I thank you for those that are watching. I pray Lord that as we have heard this message, I pray that we would be blessed father by the words that have gone forth. And I pray Lord that we would know what it means to surrender our reset God. That we would say Lord, not my will, but yours be done. And we would say yes to your will. Yes to your way. We thank you for your goodness for your faithfulness, for your compassion, your kindness and your mercy. And we pray Lord that as we uhh continue to obey, continue to seek your face that you would give us strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow. We thank you. We praise you in jesus name, Amen and Amen. If you’re here, you’re listening, you’ve heard this word go forth and you realize you don’t know jesus christ as your Lord and savior. You’ve been trying to reset your way by just doing good works or uh you know being a better person in your own way. But you have never surrendered truly to jesus christ and said God, I want your reset. I want your son father to the shed blood of jesus christ to make me new to make me hold. If that’s you, I’m gonna ask you to text. Save to the number at the bottom of the screen. You have individuals that are willing to talk with you about salvation.
