Reset Your System

Hello everyone and thank you so much for joining me today. My name is Roderick caesar the third on the lead pastor of Bethel Gospel Tabernacle in Jamaica queens new york. And I’m so excited that you decided to join me for the full Gospel hour right here on Global Seven. My prayers that you will be blessed. You’ll be encouraged and inspired by this message. Thank you so much for joining and God bless. But we’re talking about reset and what it means to reset what reset looks like if we want to see real change in our lives and uh, sustained a real reset. What we need is a valid system. We need a valid system. A system shift sometimes in order to sustain the reset that we’re trying to do, trying to accomplish. So the title of the message I’m gonna preach today is called reset. Your system reset. Your system. A system is a coordinated body of methods or a scheme or plan of procedure. An organizational scheme oftentimes the system is what makes the thing that you’re trying to work work whether it works good or bad, it’s the system that’s put in place specifically when you’re speaking about technology with computers or phones or things of that nature. Uh, the system sometimes needs to be, needs to be updated, needs to be restored, needs to be or reset in order to function or work accurately or appropriately. Now, changing a system, regardless of where you’re looking at, when, where you’re looking at whether you’re looking at a system in an organization, uh, system within a computer or software or system of just that process of how things get done. Changing the system oftentimes is no easy feat. It’s not easy. It’s a difficult and daunting task. Why? Because you’re not just getting down to the way things happen. But oftentimes you’re getting beneath the surface to why things happen the way they happen and you have to shift gears and attack that. Why? To change the what? Oftentimes we just change the what and, and, and I think that’s fine, but we have to sometimes dig a bit deeper and if we want a biblical example of this, the biblical example of how this looks, uh, we should look no further to than the author and the finisher of our faith, jesus. The christ see, Jesus came down and changed the system. Jesus came and changed the system. Turn with me in your bibles to the book of Matthew. Matthew chapter four verses 12 through 17. Matthew chapter four verses 12 to 17. You can follow along on on the screen there. Now, when he had heard that john had been arrested, he withdrew to galilee and leaving Nazareth. He went and lived in Capernaum by the sea and the territory of Zebulon and Naftali. So that was spoken by the prophet Isaiah might be fulfilled. The Land of Zebulon and the Land of Naftali, the way of the sea beyond the Jordan. The galilee of the gentiles, the people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light. for those who are dwelling in the region and the shadow of death on them. A light has dawned. From that time, jesus began to preach saying repent for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand. Uh in the book of Mark, Mark’s account says the time is fulfilled and the Kingdom of God is at hand repent and believe in the gospel. Let us pray dear God, I thank you so much for this time. I thank you for who you are, who you called us to be, how you’ve called us to live, how you’ve called us to surrender how you’ve called us to reset how you’ve called us to uh adore you father and love you how you’ve called us to love others. I thank you for what you’ve called us to, I thank you for empowering us to accomplish what you’ve called us to. I thank you father for your sacrifice. I thank you for your love, your mercy towards us. I pray that as this word goes forth, you would be glorified. Thank you and praise you in jesus name amen and Amen, Reset your system, reset your system. You guys ready? Hope you’re ready. If you’re watching online, just say ready, Ready type that out, say I’m ready. Um so here we go, jesus came in and changed everything. Everything, not just the surface, not just the top layer, not just skin deep, not just behavior modification, but real life change. It was possible through jesus christ, it’s possible then and it’s attainable for us today. So really understand why this is important. We have to look at the incarnation of jesus christ and what that actually means incarnation as the word simply means a heavenly being God in human form, jesus to to get this and fully comprehend this, we have to believe as john states in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was god. The text says he was in the beginning with God, he was with God in the beginning because he was God, Jesus didn’t just poof miraculously appear. Uh all 33 members of the trinity existed long before Jesus was physically born, Jesus wasn’t suddenly all that, let’s just think of a way to, to have salvation come into play and now Jesus becomes this God. No, no, Jesus was in the beginning with God because he is God. And so to fully understand what that means, why it’s important for us to reset and go deep. We have to look at the lengths that jesus went to come and be with us. The birth of jesus is so important because literally it’s heaven touching earth, it’s the holy touching what is not wholly the pure touching, what is impure and oftentimes when we say, oh God, you know, we pray on earth as it is in heaven that is a miracle in and of itself, your kingdom come, your will be done. There will be a day that comes when God cracks the sky and all things are as it should be and brings his reign and rule and that sin is completely vanquished. The things that we see today are completely no more. But we get little glimpses of that that we see throughout scripture and glimpses of that in the reality that we see today. When we pray Lord, thy kingdom come thy will be done glimpses of that when we realize that we have the hope of the Holy Spirit, the power of the Holy Spirit on the inside of us. But the birth of jesus is so important because it is literally heaven touching earth more so than just touching earth. It is heaven becoming earth. God breathed the breath of life into man after he did what formed man out of the dust of the earth, jesus christ became earth to save earth. Heaven became earth to save earth and this in in heaven becoming earth had to navigate this world and not lose heaven in the process to navigate this world. Be tempted just as we are tempted uh be tempted to stray just as we’re tempted to stray prone to wander. Lord I feel it, but yet resist the temptation and not lose heaven, not drop the ball, not for sake of the mission to truly understand this system reset. It’s necessary for us to realize that jesus christ coming and wrapping himself in flesh and and being uh God in the flesh. It means so much because without this happening, we could not have a true and deep and longing and powerful, meaningful uh sustained relationship with God. It would be only something that is uh as temporary. Looking forward to faith but not living in this moment. Because due to sin, what we realized is man could not dwell with God due to sin coming into the world. Man could not dwell with God and not be consumed Man and God in the same space, man has taken out same space, man gets taken out. You can’t chill together. Why? Because God is holy and man is unholy and God’s holiness will snuff it out every single time. And so the beauty of the Garden of Eden is that before the fall in genesis chapter three we see a beautiful picture of what God actually intended. God dwelling with man walking with Adam in the cool of the day, giving Adam and Eve. These assignments to work these assignments to live together. These assignments to be fruitful and multiply and walking with them and partnering with them and giving them a parameter. God dwelling with man. He gave them parameters. He gave them order. He gave them structure. He gave them rules. He gave them instructions and things were going fine until they weren’t things were going fine until they didn’t follow what God gave due to deception due to disobedience, due to a desire to ultimately be like God. They dropped the ball and sin runs rampant throughout creation and its effects are immediately felt. One of the things that is stated in scripture is the men and women were both naked and unashamed. That’s a contrast to what takes place. As soon as they bite the fruit there naked, they realize their nakedness and then they run to go put clothes on, they run to go find something to cover themselves with. So that’s an immediate effect. Another effect is the Lord speaking to the man to Adam says, You will work the ground for your food, you’re gonna have to labor hard for this and sometimes you’ll reap no reward. So the woman, he says, there’s going to be pain in childbirth now and there’s going to be dysfunction in your relationship with the man. And then in one of the other things he says is creation will visibly decay and ultimately die. But the worst uh consequence of sin is that we now as sinful beings, can no longer be in the presence of a holy God without a sacrifice, without a substitute, without something to make atonement for our sin. Another thing that God said during this time is that one day when he’s speaking to Adam to even to the serpent, he speaks to the serpent and he says one day the sin is going to be dealt with, but we cannot be in the presence of God without a substitute, we cannot be in the presence of God without something to cover our sin. A preview of this is seen in Genesis chapter three verse 21, right after everything takes place, the Lord God so graciously makes for Adam and for his wife garments of skin and clothes and clothes them. You see Adam and Eve got fig leaves and and covered themselves. They put some leaves together because they were like okay, you know, their their their eyes are first being open to the reality of what uh of what’s going on and they trying to hide their nakedness, showing some leaves together. But God says, no, no, no, something has to die. So you can be covered. The skin is not from, you know, you didn’t just blink them out of thin air, something had to leave this earth so they could finally be covered. And this is the theme that we see throughout the scripture in exodus. We we we see that uh that when Israel and moses and they’re leaving Egypt and going through the red sea before all that takes place, The last plague is going to be the death of the firstborn. And the Lord gives Israel a bit of a heads up and says, look, go to the elders of Israel, this is the way to protect yourself select lambs for yourself according to your clans and kill the Passover lamb spread its blood on your door post for the Lord will pass through to strike the Egyptians and when he sees the blood on the lentil and on the two door post, the Lord will pass over the door and not allow the destroyer to enter your house and strike you. You cover this door post with blood because if not you’ll be caught by a stray. If not you’ll be hit with something that was not intended for you, but you’re not behaving accordingly. It’s not intended for you. But you’re reaping the results of this sin because you didn’t obey. It’s not intended for you, but you’re getting touched, you’re not following instructions and so it’s affecting you. It’s not intended for you. If you had the blood, the judgment would pass over you, but you do not because you’re not following the instructions that were given and as a result, your firstborn is gone as a result, you’re getting touched and as a result you’re being affected and as a result you’re paying the penalty for sin when you don’t have to because it was already paid. These are just the previews of the animal sacrifices that are going to further be elaborated on in the books of exodus and in the books of leviticus, uh in great detail, when the Lord says, you may offer the bull as a sign offering for atonement every single day talking to the priest and how they have to atone for the sins of the people and throughout leviticus, there are different types of offerings that we see taking place and it goes into description and detail, but it’s difficult for us to read through and to wrap our minds around in our western way of thinking. But back then in the ancient near east and this time sacrifices, animal sacrifices were not an uncommon thing. It was something that even the surrounding nations uh did, but we see Israel God doing this and this happening because he says, listen, this is the way that I will suspend judgment on you. Something has to die so that you can live. This is the principle that we see carried throughout scripture. And so the priest is going and making sacrifices on behalf of the people. It’s a bloody book, leviticus. And what we realize is that from that time, when Israel is getting acquainted with this God and this God is saying because of the sin of the world, because of the sin of of you, I’m calling you to be a light to nation. So you’re sacrificing these animals for a different reason and I’m passing over, I’m suspending judgment and if the sacrifice does not happen, death destruction, paying all of these things are taking place. So they’re making sacrifices and from that time until jesus appears preaching the gospel of of God, the people of God, go to the Tabernacle go to the temple and count on the priest to make animal sacrifices for their sin because if they don’t, they will die. Mhm point blank period. This is literally life or death. You’re going to, you know, wake up one day and say, hey, did you make your sacrifice? And I forgot, boom, drop dead right there. That’s how it was. You had to be able to make this sacrifice. And so what we realized is that the Pharisees and the people of Jesus’s day, we’re dedicated to making these sacrifices, but not only that upholding the law and to do right by the teachings of of of uh moses in the Pentateuch, in the first five books of scripture, and what we realized is that jesus comes in and he’s changing the system. But like I said, changing a system is no easy feat. It’s a difficult task. It’s a daunting task. And you’re not just getting to the, to the bottom of the way things happen, but you’re also going down to why this happens and why this needs to change, Jesus comes and he proclaims the kingdom of God and he says, I will destroy this temple and in three days I’ll raise it up, but they did not know is the temple he was speaking about was not the temple they worshiped at, but it was his body. You destroy this temple in three days already. This up, that’s why they say, wait a minute. How can he destroy the temple and raise it up in three days, that’s impossible. It took years for our fathers to build this temple and here you come saying you’re going to destroy it and raise it up in three days. You know that’s why when jesus says to the the disciples, he says you know the son of man is gonna suffer, he’s going to die and he’ll he’ll rise again. They could not understand. They always says, what are you talking about? He tells them straight up, this is what has to happen, but they don’t listen, they are confused, they don’t get it and even john comes and says behold this is the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. These were all illusions to jesus christ being the sacrifice that would ultimately end the need to have all other animal sacrifices and that Ladies and gentlemen congregation Saints of God was a problem. It was a problem for the system because Jesus had to deal with and confront two systems. The system of sin, he had to break and destroy that completely by following the mandate of his father and dying on the calvary’s cross and rising again. So as a result of that sin doesn’t have power over us anymore. He is broken and destroyed the power in the system of sin. We see its effects, we see what’s going on. But if we are believers of jesus christ, we can walk in authority over sin. So that’s one system that jesus came to destroy the second system that jesus came to deal with is the system of sanctification and being justified before God. Now this system was not wrong, it was not a wrong or bad system, it just wasn’t complete, it was not a wrong or bad system, it just wasn’t the updated version, it just wasn’t the complete finished product, it wasn’t wrong, there was just a better way, It wasn’t wrong, there was just a more efficient way. It wasn’t wrong, there’s just a more reliable way, It wasn’t wrong, there was just a more powerful way. It wasn’t wrong, there was just a more life changing way, It wasn’t wrong, there was just a more loving way, it wasn’t wrong, it was just a more gracious way, it wasn’t wrong, there was just a more empowering way to go about it because the last time I checked, the writer of Hebrews says the law was just a shadow of the good things to come because these things can never by the same sacrifices that are continually offered every year, make perfect those who draw near. So the writer of Hebrews is making an argument as to why jesus sacrifice is greater than the sacrifice of bulls greater than the sacrifice of goats, greater than the sacrifices of lambs because he is the limb and you can make a sacrifice every single year and did not add up to what jesus did when he paid it all on the cross. So we’re saying, listen what all these sacrifices, you can make a sacrifice. Animal sacrifice year after year after year. But it will not make you perfect before the Lord. If not it cannot make perfect those who draw near, he says it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sin. Yeah, it wasn’t supposed to be this long term eternal solution. It’s a temporary thing. Until the real thing came in, the reset came in and jesus christ comes to reset the system and by jesus christ the text says, he says we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of jesus christ. Yet this once and for all, once and for all. And then the writer says every priest stands daily at his service offering repeatedly the same sacrifices again and again, killing this limb again, Killing this bull again repeatedly, time and time again offering the same sacrifices which can never take away sin can never take away sins. But when christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, waiting from that time until his enemies should be made a footstool for his feet, for by one single offering he has perfected for all time. Those who are being sanctify the blood of christ, what can wash away my sin, not the blood of bulls, not the blood of goats is the blood of jesus christ the son of the living God over my mind over my heart, the blood of jesus christ washes away my sins and the beautiful thing about it is jesus doesn’t have to say well there goes rods in and again, let me come down from heaven and wrap myself in flesh and die on the cross all over again. You know, one time reaches to the highest mountains, it flows to the lowest valleys. The blood that gives me strength from day to day. It will never lose its power. I love this gospel because through it we have power. I love this gospel because through the death and the resurrection of jesus christ, the sacrifice of jesus christ went out here killing animals. We don’t have to slay any blood and the lambs anymore. We don’t have to Sprinkle any blood on the door because someone has taken the place of the lamb and his name is Jesus the Great the Great. I am so jesus comes to deal with the systems, the system of sin and then he comes to deal with the system of how things work, how people were viewed as becoming sanctified by having to sacrifice these animals. And I think for us this is a reminder that God is dealing with systems that we don’t have to stay stuck in, a system that may be good, but God is shifting things, it’s a reminder of, like we said a while ago that we’ve been around this mountain too long and God wants to shift and reshape some things and have us move on to something else. That’s what the reset is about. It’s time to move forward. The sacrifice of jesus christ brings to pass some wonderful realities. The fact that he delivered God delivered on his promises in Genesis three near the end when he’s speaking to the man, he says thanks to the man, he says thanks to the woman and then he says, speaks to the serpent and he says, you are going to have enmity with the offspring of Eve. He says, one day I will put enmity between you and the woman between your offspring and her offspring. He shall bruise your head and you shall bruise his heel. You see that’s the beautiful thing about the crucifixion because it looks like Jesus was defeated by death. But it was basically just the serpent biting the hell of jesus. When in actuality, what we see really taking place, if we just look a little bit beneath the surface is that jesus was the one just stomping on the head of the enemy, stomping on sin, defeating sin once and for all. So that we can to live in the finished work of jesus christ, That’s the power of this reset. That’s the power of this system shift. That’s the power of the crucifixion that God honored his promise and said, I’m going to put enmity between you and this woman, your offspring and her offspring. So the offspring of eve generations down the line is going to come. And this person will be someone who will destroy the sin problem once and for all sin was dealt with by jesus christ. He dealt with sin. He took care of it. It is finished, it is done, it is accomplished. Those that believe in the finished work don’t have to be slaves to sin anymore. Sin was dealt with by jesus. But I believe also we need to know how much jesus loves us to see also how much he extends his grace to us by how he arrived here, How he got here. Yes, God becomes flesh. That’s incredible. That’s wonderful. That’s beautiful. That is that is one of the power amounts of of of what we believe. And while we’re here and we’re grateful for that, grateful for God becoming flesh. But also I think it’s important for us to think about how Jesus chose to get here. How jesus chose to become flesh. He didn’t just wake up 33 years old, you know, wrapped in flesh ready to die. You know, V I g let’s go, no, no, no. There was a process. And you know, I think that’s why the virgin mary is so important. I think oftentimes she’s a wonderful picture of the grace and the mercy of God, but also the plan of God to dwell within men this women’s history month or women’s month where we’re celebrating the lives of women, not just mothers but our sisters and uh women that have stood up and uh and and been amazing and incredible. And one of the things that only a woman can do is give birth carrying a child. Giving birth to new life in the relationship between men and women is a function that belongs solely to women. Whether it’s natural conception or ivy IVF, the miracle of life as God orchestrated comes through the vessel of a woman. And now I shouldn’t have to say this, but I will do to the stigma and things that can certainly certainly come with this. But being unable to conceive does not make you any less of a woman. God has still purposed and designed you to be a miraculous reflection of his character and his image. So don’t allow the lies of the enemy or the perspective of society to cause you to lose sight of your value and your worth. But I want us to understand this. That no matter how hard a man sits and thinks no matter how hard he squeezes his fists together and wishes he cannot naturally bring a child into the world that role and that responsibility, that duty, that ability is something that only a woman can do. And no matter how much he wants to help his wife in the delivery room, no matter how much he wants to take the pain away and help assist, literally, all you can do is just stand and say, All right, well, here’s my hand, Let’s practice some breathing. Let’s do something. Because you you can’t, there’s only so much you can do. And I think it’s important for us to realize that the woman carries and births the child. Depending on this, is this depending on what theological position you hold or what your church history or everything you you come from. This might mess with your theology a little bit. But I believe that the picture of the virgin mary is such a powerful picture of grace and the mercy of God. And also a picture of the plan of God to dwell with men. Because mary was not without sin. Text says that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. First, john verse 18 through 10 says If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful. And just to forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all. On righteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar and his word is not in us making merry sinless removes this theme. That’s throughout scripture, that God dwells amongst an unclean people and we are not consumed. Mary was the first one to experience that that grace, that mercy, that God can dwell literally on the inside of her, is she not be consumed because a holy God decided to come through the vessel of a woman. And it’s a beautiful thing. And it shows us about the grace and mercy of God, who in spite of our sin comes to dwells with us, comes to change us, comes to make us new. And throughout this whole process of God dwelling on the inside of man. We are not consumed. I can live to tell the story because of the Grace of God. I can live to tell the story because of God’s miraculous love for me. I can live to tell it because I’m not consumed because of the blood of jesus christ. I’m not consumed because of that sacrifice once and for all, I’m not consumed. I’m closing and we’re almost through here. But I believe the Pharisees had a problem because the system was changing. The Pharisees had a problem because the system was changing. You see, they were familiar with animal sacrifice. They were familiar with upholding the Torah, upholding the law. They were familiar with doing, you know what’s necessary to look good on the outside and they didn’t want to die because of sin. So they were familiar with the rituals and sacrificing the animals. They were comfortable with staying in that pattern. But how many of you know? Oftentimes God’s plan is not man’s plan God’s plan is not man’s plan. And oftentimes when he comes to reset or shake something up. we can get so confused, we can get so conflicted, we can hold on so tight and say no God, no God, no God. But they wanted to eliminate the change. But what they didn’t know is that in eliminating the change that we’re facilitating the reset process that God had orchestrated from the beginning, jesus comes and says, I make all things new through his death and through his resurrection, the system is now change. So I want you to know that whatever it is in your life, that needs to be reset right now. Our God has the power to change it. Whatever it is in your life that needs to shift right now. Our God has the power to shift it, whatever it is in your life that needs to be done away with. Right now, our God has the power to put it away if God, the Holy God can bring a sin sinful man close to himself, I ask you today, is there anything too hard for God? There is nothing too hard for the Lord. Now I have the power to love my neighbor. Now, I have the power not just to to exist and to make it through sin, but not just to resist sin, but to realize that I am not a slave to sin. Now, I have the ability to live a life that reflects the fruit of the Holy Spirit that dwells on the inside of me. Now I have the knowledge that I am a temple of the living God who dwells on the inside the system has been reset. Somebody give God some praise right where you are. Thank you Lord for resetting the system. Thank you God for making all things new. Thank you God for resetting the system. Thank you Lord for making all things new Hallelujah Father. Thank you Lord. So, I close with this text first, john chapter four vs nine through 11. This is how God showed his love to us. He sent his one and only son into the world that we might live through him. Watch this. This is love. Not that we loved God, but that he loved us. He first loved us when we wanted nothing to do with him. He first loved us when we were stuck in sin. He first loved us when we spit in his face. He first loved us when we rejected his grace, He first loved us. When we walked away from him, he first loved us and he sent his son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. This is love. Not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his son as an atoning sacrifice for our, since my beloved one. Since God has loved us. In this way, We are also obligated to Love one another. There it goes right there since God has loved us in this way, we are also obligated to love one another with this system reset. It’s no longer just about just about me, it’s not you know, I’m doing what’s best just you know, just just for me and that that’s it. I have to I’m called to love someone else. I’m called to extend this, this truth that I’m living out in the life of somebody else. I’m called to love others as christ loved me, I’m called to love others, christ lifting me up. I’m called to lift up others. This is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. Jesus came and reset the system. He said look lambs and bulls and goats like that can only get us, but so far what we need to do is reset and I will be the lamb, I will be the sacrifice once and for all to make these things new to make all things right? So why Jesus comes to, to to seek and save the lost and Matthew 4 17 he says he begins to preach and he says repent for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. The kingdom of God that operates different from the systems of the world. It takes the systems of the world and turns it on its head. It’s the gospel is the beautiful paradox. It says look to be strong, you gotta be weak to be first, you gotta be last and it takes the things that we think makes sense and flips it and says, okay, this is how I need us to to move because the system is shifting and I believe there’s a system shift in this house, but also a system shift in our lives. If you’re here, you’ve heard this message and you realize, hey, I’ve been operating out of a system that is uh not the Lord system for me, I do not know, jesus christ, I do not have a relationship with him if you’re watching and that’s you and you want to have a relationship with jesus, I’ll ask that you say you text saved to the number at the bottom of your screen. We have people that will be in touch with you saved to the number at the bottom of your screen. Want to pray with you and ensure that you make a wonderful decision for jesus christ today, your God, I thank you so much for those that are coming to you that have texted this number. I pray Lord that as they move forward in faith and text this by faith father that they would come to know you, that you would be glorified in their lives and that they would believe in your broken body shed blood and you’re resurrected power. We thank you and praise you in jesus name, amen and Amen for those of us that are here, the and those of us that are watching if you’ve heard this message and you realize, Hey, I need a system reset. There’s a way that I’ve been operating in that perhaps God is trying to call me out of just like we preached last time you’ve been around this mountain too long. Maybe this is a reminder for some of you, a a second message for some of you that may be dropped the ball or maybe went back. God is saying we need to reset this system. We need to not just look at the symptoms or the settings, but we need to look at the system as a whole and and reset this whole thing. If that’s you and you say, Hey, I keep going back to something that I thought I walked away from. Or if you’re, if you’re saying, hey, there’s a, a pattern of, of thinking and doing that. I know I need to shift away from or if you’re just find yourself in relating to this message and you want prayer, I’m just going to pray right now. And if that’s you just agree with me in this prayer. Dear God, I thank you so much for who you are father. I thank you Lord for how you’ve called us out of darkness and into light and I pray Lord that as your sons and your daughters that you would do what only you can do in our lives, father, That we would be strong and courageous, that we would trust you as your guiding our steps as you’re leading us and directing us. We thank you, we praise you. We give you glory. We pray for the we thank you for your sacrifice for the ability to live a righteous life through you. And I pray Father that as we do that, that you would get all the praise, the honor and the glory. We ask these things in jesus name, Amen and Amen.
