Ep 9 – The Incarnation

Hi there Tom Harris once again with it’s all greek to me. We want to look at deeper into the scriptures to find out what we can learn and glean the pictures that we can see from the greek language and right off the bat in john’s Gospel chapter one and verse one in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. Three specific statements. One speaks of his eternal al Itty, the other speaks of his Personality and the 3rd speaks of his deity in the beginning doesn’t mean there’s a starting point and we go from there. That would be appalled t not he a P O. Which was would be from the beginning onward. But this is before the beginning, end, our he before the beginning. But it says in the beginning was the word. So this word that was Before the beginning, like it says in Genesis chapter one in verse one in the beginning or before there was any beginning before there was any physical creation where there was light and there was energy and there was water and there was land and mountains and stars and Galaxies in the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. This is the same kind of a statement. And so you have here The beginning of what we would consider the Christmas story because in verse 14 of the same chapter it says and the word because it’s tracking this, This word, logos, the word in verse 14 became flesh. This same word that was before the beginning. This being a person in our case, it’s the godhead, the second person of the godhead referred to as the logos. The word becomes now flesh verse 14 and wells among us and we beheld his glory. We actually saw his Voakes a his glory. The glory as of the only begotten mono, Yannis, The only begun just like in John Chapter three for God, so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him would not perish but have everlasting life. The same word here. The only begotten from the father full of grace and truth. Isn’t that a fantastic thing? Right off the bat. We see that this logos is the source of life. Look at verse four of this chapter in him was life and it calls him or him a male personality and the life was the light of men. So not only is he the source of life, he also is the source of light. It says here, not only is he the source of life in john three and verse 15 and 60 he is the source of eternal life. Erroneous Zoe. This life doesn’t just start, but it never ends according to the scriptures. And then in John Chapter five, verse 29 and 1125, he is the resurrection in life. It talks about the resurrection of life And then again in John Chapter six and verse 35, he is the bread of life. All these things have very clear pictures. He is the source of the spiritual food that we, that we feast on. He is the power by which we are able to have this spiritual life ignited. He is the source of this, not only Zoi but erroneous to eternal life that we have. And then it also says in John 10 and verse 10, you know, the thief comes only to steal and to kill and to destroy. But I have come, jesus said to give life and to give it what abundantly I mean really more than just having physical life, but having a life that is overflowing and full. That’s what he’s talking about there. So, life john 14 eternal life, john 3 16, resurrection of life john 5 29 Bread of life John 6 35 Light of Life, John 8 12. So we can see the spiritual darkness and the spiritual light that is all around us and abundant life so that we can experience really fullness. Not just have stuff, not just have things not just be able to eat physically and have close physically, but have our robes for that come from heaven, our food that comes from heaven to have that spiritual inner peace and joy and love and then the way of life, jesus said, I am the way the truth and the life. So really the way the truth and the life is about a person. So that person in me, that person with me, that person around me is the source of my life. That’s what he says in John 14 and Verse six. It’s interesting also that the gospel of john ends with verse 31 john 2031 he says that believing you may have life ah and then you in his name, it’s a, it’s a very powerful statement. So let me, let me just share with you that the gospel of john, the incarnation, the logos God becoming flesh man, God becoming a man is what the john one verse, chapter one verse one through 18 is all about. And of course, uh as we look at that and then we go all the way to the end of john chapter 20 and verse 31 therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book, but these have been written so that you may believe that jesus is soos Yeshua in Hebrew, which means God is my salvation, is the christ, the messiah, Masha christos in greek. The anointed one, you know, comes from the idea of rubbing fingers together with oil and anointing uh someone, a prophet priest and king. The anointed one. This man, jesus, Yeshua, jesus christ issues, Jesus is the christ restores Machine to the anointed one. So this man is the one that was predicted to come down from heaven and be the God man, what it’s saying here in john 20 in verse 30 and 31 he is the son of God the same nature as God. Yes, that’s what it means. He that doesn’t mean he came after him. It means he’s got the same nature as God. You’re just like the Sons of Thunder had the nature of or the son of tradition. This is an expression of nature and then and that believing you may have life in his name. So this eternal life, this life with God that comes through the power of his name, comes through faith in what we believe about him. When we hear about him, who he is and what he’s done, that he was, he existed in eternity. He had a separate personality from the father, he becomes a man, he becomes flesh, We behold him, we see him, we understand that the law was given by moses, but grace and truth for 16 of john, chapter one were realized through jesus christ, jesus, the christ, what a phenomenal thing. And then when you, when you go into the Gospel of john, Chapter one through 12, you have the seven signs that are given to convince those who read it to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the anointed one. That’s what the gospel of John Is. It really is a testimonial track about the man, Jesus Christ, who John says as he’s writing his gospel lived and existed before the beginning, before the beginning the lowest existed and this logos who created life, who created everything around us becomes flesh. And so the 1st 12 chapters uh, deal with this To show us that Jesus is the Christ, the anointed one, the son of God, he is deity and believing we may have life in his name, then you have then it continues to chapters 13 through 20, which is the last week of Jesus, life. or we call that the passion week. And you know, you don’t realize this, but it’s really a short period of time. But the lot took place during those chapters 13 14 15 16 17 18 1920, the last week of Jesus Life. So clearly identified Mel Gibson put together a film, the passion of the christ. And and yet it’s so profound that even today when you consider what this man who was a carpenter who was born in Bethlehem uh and grew up in Nazareth and And fulfilled all the old testament prophecies. And we’re gonna look at that uh, in a, in a phenomenal way, we’re gonna see it. That this man, Jesus truly is the messiah because he fulfilled the 365 old testament prophecies about him. And uh there are, there are several that you can’t, you can’t even, I mean you can’t make it up. How could you pick the place of your birth, how could you pick the place of your death, how could you even uh put all those facts together, the many things that, that jesus christ fulfilled in his birth, in his life, in his death, there’s no way that you can fulfill all that unless he truly is the messiah of Israel, the one that was predicted to come from long ago. So john’s epilogue is the 21st chapter. And so at this time, I, I like to just go into a few of the uh prophecies that we have concerning the christ. As I said, there are over 365 prophecies, give or take a few. There’s many prophecies concerning the coming of the messiah and where he would be born, the time of his birth, the circumstances of his birth, all of it and how he would live, how he would die. What would happen, how he would come into Jerusalem, who his friends would be, how he would rise from the dead. I just want to give you a few so that you can just hang your hat on it. Number one, he must be a hebrew an Israelite, a jew In the Genesis chapter 49 verse 10 concerning Judah, It is predicted that the septa will not depart from Judah. In other words, the ruler, the king will not be from any of the other tribes, the 11 tribes, the 12 tribes rather, but it will be from the one tribe Judah. The messiah would come And also in John Chapter 422, when Jesus is speaking to the woman at the well, what did he say, you know, salvation is of the Jews. You know, it’s not, it’s not of any other culture, it’s not of any other race. It has nothing to do with that. It has something to do about God’s prophecies fulfilling where the messiah would be born, who the messiah would be and how he would come and why he would come. The second thing he would be born in Bethlehem. Now when we look at this, there were two Bethlehem’s in Israel. There was one north in the in the county of or the area of Zeppelin, north of Nazareth, there was another one down uh right by in Judah right under Jerusalem. So all the prophecies that talk about Bethlehem always referred to Bethlehem of judea in the south. Now this is very important because you know, God doesn’t get this wrong, he doesn’t make mistakes about this. Knowing that there are two cities with that name. You know this is one of the ways you know that the bible is the word of God and that jesus christ fulfilled these prophecies. You see right here very clearly in the north above Nazareth is Bethlehem, there is a town called Bethlehem down in the south, there is another town, right? Uh south of Jerusalem in the area of Judah is a town of Bethlehem uh which means that the town of bread uh house of bread. So what we wanna do is we want to see how specific God is about all of these prophecies, incredible that God is that detailed in giving us his uh specific prophecies, Not only will he be born in Bethlehem is predicted in Micah chapter five and verse one, But he will be born of a Virgin Isaiah 7 14. Now in in Isaiah 7 14, it talks about it uses the word Alma in Hebrew. But when, when the 70 rabbis who translated the Hebrew scriptures into the greek coin greek 300 B. C. Uh the 70 they translated that word part of china because that was the word for virgin. And then when in Matthew chapter one, you read Matthew chapter one, it uses the word virgin for mary she had no relations with joseph. When jesus was born, he was born supernaturally. The bible teaches us again another very specific prophecy. Born of a Virgin Isaiah 7 14, born 483 years after the rebuilding of the temple Daniel chapter nine and verse 25. And we’re gonna see this a little bit further, but we want to continue with the prophecies that we are told here. Uh he’s gonna come before the destruction of the Temple Daniel chapter nine and verse 26. The first part of the verse in psalm 22 verse 16, he’s gonna die of crucifixion 1000 years before the romans actually used this horrible method to of capital punishment, jesus christ was predicted, the messiah was predicted to die hanging on a cross. Uh and that his feet, his hands and his feet would be would be pierced But die of crucifixion. The redeem he would come in Isaiah 53 five and eight to redeem Israel from their sins. What was the point of his dying? Why would he be crucified and pierced? The whole purpose was to make atonement for our sins. He was the lamb of God that came to to take away the sins of the world. John 1 29 jesus christ was the fulfillment of all the old testament sacrifices all of the five sacrifices in the old testament pointed to jesus christ, the burnt offering, the trespass offering the meal offering the guilt offering the sin offering all of them was because jesus christ is the lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world. He’s a lamb for a man like enable he’s a lamb for a family as moses told us the the young skipper lamb is a lamb for the nation, but john’s lamb and john 1 29 he’s the lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world. And uh there are other pictures of the revelation 59 verse that deals with the fact that the land was able to take the book and break the seals and the lamb of God. You know. And this is the eternal lamb for all people for all nations, for all tongues for all, all of us. Incredible. And then further on in revelation is the eternal lamb of God that will reign and rule uh and is able to stand on the throne of God, but because of his sacrifice, but because of his redemption that he’s provided. And when he died on that cross, what did he say? It is finished. He made atonement for the sins of the world. Elias Moss, in the greek language, a propitious hitori sacrifices, satisfying sacrifice and not only that, but he would be raised from the dead, Isaiah 53 10 psalm 16 9 and 10 that he would physically bodily. This this messiah would rise from the dead. Now, I just, you know, there’s so many things you can say, but when you take all of them together, not just this one and that one and that and there’s and I just took a uh just the highlights. But there are so many specific prophecies about him coming into Jerusalem riding on a donkey. In fact, let’s go there right now. But the bible speaks of specific prophecies. I want you to see these specific prophecies. The messiah would be uh the seed, an offspring of a woman. It talks about this in genesis chapter three and verse 15 it says, and I will put enmity between you and the woman and between your seed and her seed and he shall bruise you on the head and you shall bruise him on the heel, He would come from the seed of the woman, not the man. And this is exactly what it teaches us in Matthew one and in Luke three. When you look at the genealogies, he would come from the seed and offspring of Abraham and would bless all the nations on the earth, look what it says in genesis 12 and verse three and I will bless those who bless you and the one who curses you. I will curse and in you all the families of the earth will be blessed. He’s talking to Abraham Abraham’s seed and God promised to bless His seed is amazing. And that was prophesying to Abraham when he was 75 when he was 100. God allowed Abraham to have a son named Isaac from Sarah, his wife and fulfilled all the prophecies. Prior to that time. The third thing, he would be a prophet like moses to whom God said, he must listen. That we rather must listen. The Lord, your God will raise up for you. A prophet like me from among you, from your countrymen, you shall listen to him. So moses predicted that he would be a prophet like him. The Lord. Your God will raise up for you. A prophet like me from among you, from your countrymen and you shall listen to him. He would be born in Bethlehem of judea. We mentioned this already. But here’s the verse in Micah chapter five verse two. But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrata too little to be among the clans of Judah. So it’s Judah from you, one will go forth for me to be ruler in Israel. His going forth from long ago are from long ago and from the days of eternity, he would be born of a virgin. He would be born of a virgin, Isaiah seven verse 14. We’re giving the scripture verses to that and very clearly, Isaiah 7 14 says therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign behold a virgin will be with a child. Embarrass on and she will call his name God with us Emmanuel. And then it says he would have a throne, a kingdom and a dynasty or house starting with the King David and will last forever. Second Samuel seven in verse 16. Your house and your kingdom shall endure before me forever. Your throne shall be established forever. These are incredible prophecies. Isaiah 96 through seven. Uh He would be called wonderful counselor, Mighty God, everlasting father. Prince of peace and would possess an everlasting kingdom. So, just tracking down the messiah’s prophecies in Isaiah nine verse six and seven for a child would be born to us. A son will be given to us. The government will rest on his shoulders and his name will be called wonderful counselor, Mighty God, eternal father Prince of peace. There will be no end to the increase of the government or of peace. Notice a child is born. That’s his humanity a son is given. That’s his deity. And then he would ride into Jerusalem on a donkey, righteous and having salvation coming with gentleness. Rejoice Zechariah 99. Rejoice greatly o Daughter of Zion. Shout in triumph. Or daughter of Jerusalem behold your king is coming to you. He is just and endowed with salvation. Humble and mounted on a donkey. Even on a cult. The fall of a donkey, Zechariah 9 10, he says, I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and horses from Jerusalem and the bow of war will be cut off and he will speak peace to the nations and his Dominion will be from sea to sea and from river to the ends of the earth. And then Isaiah 53 5. He would be pierced for our transgressions and crushed for our iniquities. Isaiah 53 5. He was pierced through for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The chastening are very well being fell on him and by his scourging. We are healed. Not only that, but he would die among the wicked ones, but be buried with the rich. He in Isaiah 53 9. It says he gave his grave was assigned with wicked men. Yet he was with a rich man in his death because he had done no violence, nor was there any deceit in his mouth In Psalm 1610, he would be resurrected for you will not abandon my soul to shield, nor will you allow your holy One to undergo decay. These are all the prophecies concerning jesus, the messiah. He would come again from the clouds of heaven as the Son of Man. I kept looking in the night visions and behold with the clouds of heaven. One like the Son of Man coming. He was coming and he came up to the ancient of days and was presented before him. He would also be the Sun of righteousness for all who revere him and look for his coming again. Uh in Malachi chapter four, in verse two. But for you who fear my name, the sun of Righteousness will rise with healing in its wings and you will go forth and skip about like the calves from the stall in Zechariah, he is the one whom Israel will one day recognized as the one they pierced, causing bitter grief. I will pour out on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem. The spirit of grace and supplication so that they will look on me whom they have pierced And they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only son and they will weep penalty over him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn child. Zechariah, 1210. Now, all of these verses, all of these verses are just a portion of the hundreds of verses that we could have gone in and these were all in the old testament. The incredible bible gives us all the prophecies concerning jesus, the christ the messiah and see he came to his own Verse 11 John 1 11 but those who were his own, the jewish people, the hebrews, the Israelites, the jews, they did not accept him but as many as received him to those, he gave the right to become the Children of God. Even to those who believe on his name, listen open your heart during this december and let the Lord jesus christ the logos that became flesh come into your life and into your heart and just humble yourself and say oh father God forgive me, jesus, thank you for coming and taking on flesh and living a perfect life and going to the cross and bleeding and dying on the cross for my sins and rising from the dead and going back ascending to heaven forgive me and save me and come into my heart in jesus name, May God bless you. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Mhm. Yeah.”}],”
