Ep 18: Xtreme Faith – Part 2

Hi there, welcome back to It’s all greek to me. I’m glad you joined us. And there are many people that are following uh my wife and I are gonna go into another discussion for three more words that deal with faith. These are faith photos, we’ve called them and they are the gift of God, which is eternal life because of faith. Then we’re going to also deal with the rema Word of faith and we’re also going to deal with the victory that we have because of faith. It’s just exciting to get into the greek to understand what God meant when he, when he guided his people to write it. What is exciting to me are all these incredible pictures of faith and how God uses his word, his grace, our faith that he gives us, that we might be able to receive incredible gifts. And in this particular case we’re looking at the word vote on the gift of God the Volvo. Now we’ve done other programs where there’s another word for gift, which is charisma, we get charismatic from it. But this word is different. It’s voto. It’s the kind of word where the uh, the Magi came and presented their gifts of frankincense, myrrh and gold, it’s actually presented from someone to someone else. A gift not earned, not worked for. And in this particular case, the scripture that we’ve picked as Ephesians 28 for, by Grace hotties. We have been saved through faith. So faith becomes the channel by which God’s grace impacts us. And you know, in hebrews, it says that they didn’t benefit from what they heard because it was not what united with faith. So what we here God wants to give us, uh we have to be willing to receive it. So let’s talk about this, the, the uh the way in which Grace and faith work together. And what is the outcome of that by faith that not of yourselves? He specifically tells us not of ourselves, it is the gift of God. He puts the focus on the gift of God Doran too. So here we are, this phenomenal to two phenomenal greek words, Mahairas and pieces and then eternal life as a result of it. Well, Grace is something that God, he himself paid for the grace, right? He enabled us to get a gift of eternal life. It’s all based on what he did. And many times when I was a young person, I was raised with the faith that you have to work your way. You had to pray through the commandments. You had, you had to confess your sins if you broke a commandment. But really God says, our life will change after we receive the power through grace and our faith in his ability to give us that grace. And we receive this gift. The gift is eternal life. No one can take us from us because christ paid for it all we have to do is humble ourselves and through his grace. A Lord. I want that gift. I want your gift of eternal life. I confess my sins to you and I received that gift. It’s a gift. And the amazing thing about this versus scripture Vicky is that the focus is on grace and gift which which is the gift comes as a result of his grace. But it can’t make that transition without me being willing to put confidence. Believe that God is faithful. That he says that you know, he loves everyone and he did not send jesus christ into this world. You know, to condemn us but to save us. That’s you know that that we’re safe in Ephesians 1 13. This is Ephesians 28 it says in him. You also after listening to this message of truth. The gospel of your salvation. Having also believe there is that faith again. So you gotta have faith to believe that he died for me. He was buried, he arose for me. And that’s why the gift is eternal life because I now put confidence in what he’s saying and the reward he gives us eternal life as a free gift. It’s absolutely wonderful. And then the next word I want us to look at again. We’re looking at these photos of faith. The next word I want to look at is the Rema the Rema Matthew 44 he answered and he said it is written, man shall not live on bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. The rima is the spoken word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. It’s written. But sometimes God will just make that writing jump out and it becomes a rima to us. Amen, it becomes a message from God. You know, this is when jesus attempted in the in the wilderness and the satan kept tempting him. And every time jesus fought satan himself, he quoted the word of God. So we need to know the scriptures because when our enemy comes to us, he’s not gonna listen to our here say it’s going to be the power of the rema and in fact you cannot get saved without the rema of God. It says that if you confess with your mouth though and believe in your heart that God raised christ from the dead. So salvation is not a whimsical thought, it’s based on the evidence and the assurance that jesus fulfilled God’s uh sacrificial blood lamb, he became the lamb of God who took away the sins of the world. So the definition of this word, faith rima from rio to speak a spoken word by the living voice fair. The theologian said, remove the spoken word is commonly used in the new testament and in the septal region uh the 70 of the Lord speaking his dynamic living word in a believer to m birth, that faith and when we have that faith, when we hear his word, then we can move forward. Now let’s look at this as we look at this fantastic passage of scripture romans 10 8 through 17. It uses the word rima several times. What does it say? That? The word rima, the word not just the logos, but the Rema of God. The spoken word to us is near you in your mouth and in your heart that is the word the rema again of faith, which we are preaching man. When you hear that word of God, you need to put faith in it. And what is that faith? That if you confess with your mouth, jesus as Lord and you believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you shall be safe For with the heart, a person believes resulting in righteousness and with the mouth he confesses resulting in salvation. The scripture says, whoever believes in him will not be disappointed. For there is no distinction between jew and greek for the same Lord is Lord of all abounding in riches for all who call upon him and then continue Vicky Verse 8-17, whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved. How them when they call on him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in him, in whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent just as it is written. How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things. However, they did not all heed. The good news for Isaiah says Lord who has believed our report. So faith comes by hearing and hearing by the rema of christ the removal of the messiah. So hearing all of the promises and then as we read the word of God, it jumps out at us. We God ignites that with our faith and we receive that incredible gift which is eternal life. Salvation again in verse 13 for whoever will call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. We only do that because we believe he died for us. He was buried. He arose again. We confess with our mouth. We believe in our heart it’s it’s actuated, it’s realized it’s ignited and now we have eternal life and then there’s the word victory for whoever is born of God. Once he gives us that new birth, we overcome the world and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our beasties, faith. So the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, the pride of life. These are things that have been dominating our life. All of a sudden we hear this word that jesus christ died was buried, Rose again. We confess with our mouth we believe in our heart the Riemann, not just the logos which is the whole scriptures and the holy writings. Ah yes professed, but the rema of God which is God speaking his word, causing us to hear his word. We confess with our mouth and we believe with our heart we speak out and cry out to him for salvation and he saves us and then we have victory because we’re born of God, we’re in now God’s family, we have eternal life. It’s absolutely phenomenal. And that’s that’s what I wanted to cover the victory. How did you experience victory in your personal life Vicki? I I faithfully read the word of God every day when I became a christian the word of God every day I couldn’t live without it. It was really food for me. You know when I was thinking God’s spirit when through the word of God because the rima is a spiritual word. These are spiritual words that we’re reading, they go into our spirit and when we apply faith we say God you remember the man in the bible he said Lord I believe but help my unbelief but we put faith in it, we trust him and we have this incredible victory. The things that overwhelmed me in my life and the problems I had and you know we work with drug addicts and people who are overcome with alcohol and substance abuse and they get victory when they speak the remote of God and they had faith to it. Yeah and it’s notice it says you know overcome the world well the world is defined in first john to the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, the pride of life. These are all self centered. You know. But when you come to christ you die to yourself, your sin. And then you get the word of God in you, that gives you the power now to be victorious because God’s word is abiding in you. Now, we’re gonna talk about that next. So when we look at this passage of scripture in Ephesians chapter two verse eight and nine, for by Grace, we are saved through faith and not of ourselves. It is a gift of God, not as a result of works lest we boast about it. We have two things there. We have the Grace of God the hardest to do, which really is talking about how he loved the world that he gave his only begotten son into the sent him into the world, not to condemn us, but to save us. He died for us. Gracious loving kind. Uh and he was buried and rose again from the dead. And then we heard this message and Ephesians 1 13. In him, you also after listening to this message of truth, the gospel of your salvation, having also believed it. You see it’s all based on believing it. You’re sealed with the Holy spirit of promise when you believe God then allows his spirit to come into your life and into my life. And that’s the key. Best evil. Believe that’s the verb here. But in in chapter two and verse eight and nine, it identifies and actually before that in verse four and five, it identifies his mercy and his mercy and his grace came out of his love with which he loved us for by Grace were saved through faith, not of ourselves. It is a gift of God vote. So we’re looking at this gift. It’s incredible, isn’t it? That God would give us this gift. Now in romans chapter six, In verse 23 it says the gift of God is eternal life, verse 23 romans 6, 23 through jesus christ our Lord. So you see, it’s all consistent throughout the bible. This very word, however gift uh that we have in uh in this passage of scripture, Ephesians 28 is the word Zorro different than haris ma different than a gift that comes from God’s grace. It’s the actual gift that is coming tangibly like the uh the Magi when they brought gifts of frankincense and murder and gold to the baby, jesus and mary and joseph. That was that was a tangible gift like that. And this is what this is. We have eternal life. We have forgiveness. We have because of a gift that God gives us based on his grace because he’s gracious, based on our faith, which becomes the channel to bring us this incredible gift. So that’s another picture of how we have the grace of God. The faith that we put in the Grace of God. His word, that he would forgive us. That he would save us. That he would have a relationship with us. Based on the fact that he paid for everything. And he gives us now uh oh Nia’s o eternal life as a gift. Now, this doesn’t mean that you die and then begin. No, but the very moment that the Grace of God Touches you by hearing the Gospel, as it said in Ephesians 1 13. That very moment you have a choice to believe it or to reject it when you believe it because of God’s grace. He’s brought the gospel to us when you believe it. When I believe it. That moment, the gift of God comes into our very heart, into our very mind, into our very life by Grace was saved through faith, not of ourselves. It is a gift of God not as a result of work. So you don’t you don’t go to catechism to learn this, You don’t give some money to earn this, You don’t become a nun, a priest, some religious person or rabbi. No, no, no. It’s a total gift. If you could work for it. It’s not a gift. It’s all done by God. It’s the gift of God. That’s the first picture. The second picture we have here is of the word rima. The Rema of God’s word. Let me just bring you to romans in chapter uh First of all, Matthew 44 said. But he answered and said it is written man shall not live by bread alone but by every word, every rima specifically that comes out of the mouth of God. So the rema word is a spoken word. It’s not the logos word which is the whole the logos is the whole book Lago to speak. But the rema word is the audible spoken word or in your mind to be heard in your heart to be heard. And it’s more specific, it’s more definite than the complete bible. So it jumps out, you’re reading a passage of scripture, it jumps out at you and says something to you. The living God using his living word as it says in hebrews chapter four verse 12 that he will cut into our hearts. The word of God is alive and sharper than any two edged sword piercing the dividing asunder of soul and spirit joints and marrow and pierces into the depths of our soul of our heart. But what does it say? The word, the rima is near you in your mouth and in your heart. Listen, when I speak to whoever atheists, agnostics, Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus christians, Baptists, Catholics, uh Episcopalians, it doesn’t really matter the word that we’re speaking and says that is the word or the rema of faith which we are preaching that if you confess with your mouth, see the mouth is important just when you get married and you say I do that’s important to here and I do when people take an oath, that’s important. It is recorded and God says that it’s important that if you confess oma logo with your mouth, jesus is Lord, he jesus, the man is videos. The Lord and you believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you shall be saved. So it’s both confession with the mouth believing in the heart. What the truth that God sent his son died on the cross for our sins was buried and rose again. That’s what it’s about. This is the remote word of faith that we hear and believe for with the heart, a person believes resulting in righteousness and with the mouth he confesses resulting in salvation. And that’s why it says that the scripture says whoever believes in him will not be disappointed for there is no distinction between jew and greek for the same Lord is Lord of all abounding in riches for all who call upon him for who so ever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be safe. This is the word of God, the spoken word to every man, woman and child that we need to believe what we hear with our ear, that God loves us, that Christ died for us, that he was buried rose again that he is the lord and that he’ll forgive us if we cry out to him. And then if you see verse 17 here, how clear it is that it says faith comes by hearing the last sentence here and hearing by the word, the rema of God. Now this same word rima is used in other places. It is used in the Book of Second Corinthians. It is used in the book of uh Second Corinthians 10 when we’re fighting battles, it’s used uh in in the uh Word of God. Clearly talking about uh the armor of God. When we are talking about Ephesians six, when it says take the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God. So not only do we hear the message from God, which is a specific word, but when we’re fighting satan, we’re fighting demons were fighting pressures in this world that are overpowering To take God’s word. The rema specific scripture to deal with specific things. Like when Jesus Christ was tempted in the wilderness for 40 days In Matthew Chapter four he took the rima and answered, this is what the word says against the devil the devil three times came at him. The rima is being able to give a specific scripture verse that God gives you concerning temptation, concerning your eyes concerning your thoughts concerning your words, concerning our temper, concerning money, concerning every area of life as a dad, as a son, as a wife, as a boss, as a worker. There are scripture verses, there are specific statements in God’s word that will help us stay true and clear. Like in my life I give you an illustration if I get into an argument with my wife or I get into an argument or some situation with my child or some friend. There are verses that I go to like how is a husband to treat a wife in Ephesians chapter five and six the husbands love your wives as christ loved the church and gave himself for her when when we become angry and bitter, there is a verse of scripture in the book of Ephesians again, let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and evil speaking be put away from you along with all malice and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving each other as even as God for christ’s sake has forgiven you. You see those are the rema words specific to my need for that appropriate situation. The third picture is victory, what that looks like it says in first john Chapter five in verse four for whatever is born of God overcomes the world and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith. It’s interesting for new believers for young believers and for growing believers first, john has much to say, talks about confessing sin, talks about the fact that you know, if we walk in the light as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another and the blood of christ. His son cleanses us from all sin. But then in Chapter two it gets into the speaking to the Children, the new believers, uh, the uh teenagers and then the farm of the fathers. So you have, you know, for a new believer, he says, you know, your sins are forgiven For the teenager. It says you have the word of God abiding in you. Especially verse 14, I’ve written out to you young men because you’re strong and the word of God abides in you mental and you overcome, there’s the word for Nike or victory the world. And then I’ve written out to you fathers because you’ve known him from the beginning. It’s it’s incredible how the various enemies that we have the world right after that verse 15, don’t love the world. First John 2 15 know the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the father is not in him for all that’s in the world. The lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, the boastful pride of life is not from the father, but is of the world and the world is going to pass away and the lust thereof. But he that does the will of God abides forever. So you have victory over the evil one. You have victory over the world and here again in first john 54 for whatever is born of God overcomes the world, it’s so important Now, I just want to show you some of these other verses that deal with overcoming living the abundant life has to be that we learned how to overcome the flesh, the world and the devil in our spiritual warfare and here are some scriptures, romans 8 37. You know, we’re more than conquerors. That word is Is it technical hyper victory? It’s the only place found in Romans 837, more than conquerors through him, Jesus Christ who loved us. So you remember he’s our victory, he is the champion, he is are the one that we’re putting our confidence in. But there are other verses of scripture. Fantastic. It says I’m writing to you because you’re strong, you’ve overcome the evil one because the word of God abides in you. We just talked about that. Uh and then we’re gonna go to the next one. You’re are from God little Children and you’ve overcome them because greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world, john four uh chapter chapter 41 through six. And then there is this beautiful, beautiful scripture for whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is that victory that overcomes the world, our faith. That’s what we’re talking about. It’s our faith that is overcoming the world. And I love this verse of scripture. They overcame him because of the blood of the lamb, because of the word of their testimony and they did not love their life even to To the very death revelation 1211. Now there are others. But I just wanted to give you some of these scriptures that are so clear. We Overcome Evil with Good Romans 1221. All of these words are clearly teaching about overcoming the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ gives us the power to overcome. As in Luke chapter 10 verse 17. Lord, even the demons are subject to us in your name. Think about that. And then of course The one that we started with Romans 837. But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through him who loved us. Listen, this is why we have these fantastic faith, photos of not only the gift and the word of God, the rema, that is the spoken word and the victory that we have by faith that we can overcome in spiritual warfare, the world, the flesh and the devil. And because we have the holy spirit inside of us. We overcome the world because we have the word of God in us. We overcome the devil. These are things power that we have that God has given to us so that we can overcome the forces that are all around us that our spiritual, that are demonic, that are oppressive, the philosophy of the world. The things that are going on in this world that we experience the fears that were battling because God wants us to be overcome ear’s. I love the verses We close for whatsoever is born of God. Are you born of God and my born of God Have I confess with my mouth believed in my heart that I am truly a child of God but as many as received him to those, he gave the power to become the Children of God. Then we overcome the world. Listen, these are insights against our enemies, the flesh, the world, the devil and through faith in God’s word, we can overcome the world through faith in the gospel of jesus christ, we can overcome the world, the flesh and the devil. Hey tom Mahairas here continue watching us on. It’s all greek to me the next time around. We’ll see you then.
