God’s faithfulness in orchestrating our day
Welcome to treasures in the storm. I’m Cindy schmidle er and in today’s episode, we’re gonna look at some 33 how God directs our lives, his faithfulness in our lives and today maybe today you need to hear this. I know I’m always in need of hearing his faithfulness in my life. And we’re gonna pray, we’re gonna dig into the scriptures. I’m gonna show you a little of what that looks like in testimony and then we’ll be off for our day. So let me pray for us. Lord God Almighty, Creator of the heavens and the earth, the one who makes himself known to us in all things. Thank you God that you are directing even the dust particles on my table are in your hands. God how much I need to be reminded how much my listeners today need to be reminded of this. So as we open your scriptures, will you speak to us father? Will you show us your fatherly loving hands in all that’s going on in our lives, Father, We wanna feeding from you today. Will you give us that feeding that can only come from you? Will you use me as your vessel to speak to your people today. You may have a word for them today, pray God that they would have ears to hear and hearts to be able to receive today, Lord and we thank you in advance for all that you are going to do through today’s episode. I pray that in jesus name. So if you will get your bibles and your pen and paper, we’re going to go to work together. So some 33 is where we want to land up. I’m gonna read versus four and five. Let’s just look at this. It says for the lower the word of the Lord is right and true. He is faithful and all he does. And so I want to circle those words all he is faithful in all, not only the things that you think he’s involved, but he’s faithful in all of it. The Lord loves righteousness and justice. The earth is full of his unfailing love. The Lord loves righteousness and justice. He calls us to walk rightly with him and we want to do that, don’t we? We want to be in obedience to him because that’s where the blessings flow from, don’t they? And I don’t know about you today, but let’s all grab hold of that as um as our listening ears can give us, he’s in the center of our stuff today. Let’s remind ourselves as I was going over this talk, a friend of mine called and her family extended family member had just committed suicide and she was calling to tell me and that’s gut wrenching, isn’t it? When something like that happens and here I had just read this and then I get that call and I’m like Lord, how do I even put that in? You are faithful in everything that you do help me to be able to do that, Lord help me to put you in the center of something so horrific today. Lord, I need you because I know when I can do that all as well. When I can when I can put you in the center, like when I found out that my son was going to die while he was in my womb, he was gonna die at birth. I can put you in the center of that and then I can know that you are going to take care of it. I don’t know how I’m going to get through. But I know that you are going to take care of it and you call me to be still right where I am and you will put that healing bomb that only you can put in. You know you say you know misery, that misery only lasts for a night. And then joy comes in the morning. I don’t know how Lord, but I know you give it and I’m trusting you for that. Um and then I want to read versus six through nine. Let’s look at that, by the word of the Lord. The heavens were made their starry host by the breath of his mouth. He gathers the waters of the sea into jars. He puts the deep into storehouses. Let all the earth fear The Lord, let all the people of the world revere him. For he spoke and it came to be he commanded and it stood firm. So if he’s not involved in everything, he keeps reminding us, he’s involved in everything going on. And then I read verse 10, look at this. The Lord foils the plans of the nations, He thwarts the purposes of the people, but the plants of the Lord’s stand firm forever. The purposes of his heart through all generations. So no matter what’s going on or what you think is going on in your country, in the world, in your family, even in your own soul, you can trust that God is going to go before it and his plan, His plan, which is the best plan, will never be thwarted. It says it will always accomplish the purpose for what, what he sent it. Four. Uh, we, my husband and I john and I were on a trip. We’re so excited about this. We’re gonna get to go to Colorado and spend time with our son for thanksgiving. And john had rented a place in the mountains and we’re going to have big thanksgiving dinner with our son and his fiancee And we’re so excited because he was living on the west Coast and we’re on the East Coast. So this was like a great place for us to meet. And so we john had gotten everything ready and it was spectacular. He showed us pictures and we were all excited about the trip and we were coming in a couple days early to get things set up. And then Adam and his fiancee were coming in and so we get, we get to Colorado, we brought our wiener dog, willy are miniature dappled oxen who I think should have his own twitter account. You probably, if you go to my website you will see pictures of him, sweet dog. And so we get there, you know, he’s traveling in the cabin underneath the seat, we get him there and he’s all happy to be out of his little crate and enjoying life and we get a rental car, we get in the car, we flying to Denver, we get in our car and we’re going up the mountains, you know how it is, up, up, up, up, up And the place we’re staying was about 10,000 ft up and we live at sea level, down in florida. And so we went up and it was starting to get dark when we were going up and we got there and it was dark and when we were in Denver the weather was like warm fifties, you know, it was very nice, we got up into the mountains to our place and the wind is howling like, I mean 70 mph, at least the snow was up to our waist, it was crazy, it was freezing just a whole nother ball game up there and I remember getting, we’re all exhausted after all the travel and we got willie out to go to the bathroom, we come in and I’m not feeling that well, I’m like, I’m just gonna go to bed, it was just a long day. So we get into our place, I climb into bed And about 3:00 AM I get up vomiting profusely, vomiting nonstop. And john had read all the literature that they gave us at the, at the bare Airbnb we were at and it says in there um if you have mountain sickness that the only cure really is to get off the mountain and I was so sick, it’s three in the morning. I was so sick that john said the only remedy for this is to get off the mountains. So he piled us in the car, we didn’t even bring our luggage me with a big garbage bag, profusely vomiting all the way down the mountain all the way down, took quite a while to get down. We get down and he finds a hotel, puts us in the hotel, the dog and I and probably about five hours later I started feeling better. But during all of that I thought oh my gosh, he’s gonna have to take me to the hospital And you think all those things that you think about when you have to go to the hospital in a place that’s not your home. And thankfully I did get better. And I said to Jonathan honey, I cannot go up that mountain. I, I don’t, when you’ve been sick like that, you know how it is, you never want to go back to that thing that you know got you sick and so I said I’m not, I can’t go and john said well how am I supposed to come in in two days, what are we gonna do? And he got online and he found a just miraculously because God is in all of the things of our life and he’s going before us. We found another Airbnb right in Denver beautiful place. And uh so we booked that place, we’re so grateful to even get it. And that night we didn’t know this was gonna happen. But that night they had a huge blizzard. 28\” of snow came at once. It shut down that mountain that we were gonna be on was completely shut down for days, it was shut down. Everything was shut down. Yet they managed to clean up enough that Adam could still come in and we ended up having this beautiful thanksgiving dinner. This place had everything that we needed to be able to cook and have a great meal. And they even had boots and coats and shovels that we were gonna need for this huge storm that came. I don’t know why we had to go through all of that but I do know that God was in the front of it and if I would have gotten sick we’d be back up that mountain and we would have been able to have this nice time with our son in Denver why we had to go through all of those stuff. I don’t know. But I do know because the bible tells me so that God was involved in all of it. That’s just a light story about our circumstances and how he is in the center and he is faithful through it all. Some 33 10 says again that he foils our plans so that his plans will stand firm and I’m grateful for that today. I’m so grateful. And then some some 33 4 reminds us that he is faithful in all he does and I’d like you to highlight that he is faithful and all he does. It’s not about us and so many scriptures we go over, you know, proverbs 16 9, you make your plans. But the Lord is the one who’s gonna direct your steps and so let him be the director of the steps. I remember one time my my poor father had um alzheimer’s and he had been sick and we needed to take him to the emergency room and it was so overcrowded in the emergency room and we had to wait and he didn’t understand. And I remember sitting in the hallway and their people, their gurneys on each side of me and I sat in this little chair that was there and all I had was my phone and I could hear my dad in the emergency room yelling and screaming, he’s in pain and john next to him so thankful that he had my wonderful husband next to him while this was going on. And I just prayed God please be with him. You know those heart cry prayers that you give and I was praying and praying and the Lord just put on my heart. So I opened my phone and I opened to a little bible app that I had and the scripture was trust in the Lord with all of your heart that he’s got this and that’s all that came up because my phone doesn’t even work in that building, that hospital building except for those words but how comforting they were at that moment, that pinpoint moment, those few words are exactly what I needed to hear while I was Listening to my poor father and what he was going through again. He doesn’t keep us from all of it. But he is with us in it some 37 says 37\/7 Let’s go there some 37\/7 says be still before the Lord and Wait patiently for him. Okay be still before the Lord and wait patiently. Sometimes we just need to wait for him to come to be still enough to wait for him to come. Um and he’s the one who keeps us alive in our famine isn’t it? And I don’t know about you but I’m often suffering and famine not physical famine but emotional famine. Where are you Lord? I need a life preserver. I need you to deliver me. Will you deliver me today? And he’s so faithful. So again, I want to go to psalm 1 21. I’ve been working on memorizing this because it’s such a comfort. And I want to encourage you to do this also to just take it little bits at a time so that you can meditate. The goal is to meditate on it. The bible says, chew it up. Let it fill your mouth because it will be sweetness to your soul and it will stay with you for a long time. And it says, I lift my eyes to the mountains. Where does my help come from? My help comes from the maker of heaven and earth. He he will not let your foot slip. He who watches over you will not slumber. Indeed! He watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you. The Lord is your shade at your right hand. The son will not harm you by day and the moon by night the Lord will keep you from all harm. He will watch over your life. The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forever more. I hope today that as you heard those words and it’s repeated over and over. The Lord watches over you. He’s not gonna sleep. He’s not going to forget. He’s not gonna say, oh, oh, I’m I’m sorry to know that what’s happening. He’s in the center of it. He’s watching over you. He knows what he’s doing and oh how he cares for us. He who is the maker of the heaven and the earth. So you can lift your eyes up, you can look at that sky and you can know he who created that is taking care of you and me And I want to end with this some in 33 versus 20 and 22. So back to psalm 33 Back to some 33 20 and 22. We wait and hope for the Lord. He is our help and our shield in him. Our hearts rejoice for we trust in his holy name, May your unfailing love be with us Lord. Even as we put our hope in you. And so today I’m gonna ask you to put your hope in him and whatever is going on in your life today, put your hope in him. Put it all on the table, lay it on his altar and don’t let it wiggle off, keep it there, let him keep it there and keep you as he says, I hem you in before and behind things too wonderful for you to know today. And so let me pray for us Lord today, we need to hear God that you are in the center of our stuff that even when I’m sitting in a little chair at the hospital listening to my four poor father cry out that you are there. You have not left him or me Lord, that you know what’s going on, that you care so much about us. You keep our integrity, you keep our health. All of it is in your hands. Lord, please father. We we constantly 24 7 need to be reminded we are weak and frail sheep as you know Lord, you are our great shepherd, the shepherd of us, God of everything going on in our lives and in our family’s lives. And so we trust you, Lord. Help us with unbelief. Lord help us to fight that off. Give us more faith. Give us more belief. Lord God, we want that kind of faith. We want to experience you, we want to know you so much better than we do today and we trust you for that in jesus name, thank you so much for coming to my show today.
