Cindy Skinner is founder and CEO of Focus on Youth, a non-profit, faith-based foster care and adoption agency in West Chester, Ohio. Focus on Youth works primarily with children who have special needs. Because the average family may feel ill equipped to care for a child with emotional or physical disorders, Cindy’s organization provides training to prepare families to care for the children in their homes.

At the time of filming, Kevin and Kim Bennett had fostered more than 20 special-needs children over a span of 12 years with the help of Focus on Youth, including 10 then living in their home. Five were in the process of being adopted. The Bennetts are passionate about opening their home and dedicating their lives to helping kids who often go overlooked. Kevin and Kim emphasize the joys and rewards of caring for children with special needs and their appreciation for Focus on Youth’s specialized training that makes the process easier.

Children all across the country desperately need loving and caring homes. Special-needs foster children may come from homes that don’t value them or aggravate their disorders. In a different home environment, these kids can realize their full potential and know they are valuable and valued.
