When I’m asked about the foundational Bible verse that Joni and Friends rests its ministry on, I quote along with everybody, Luke chapter 14: “Go out into the streets and allies, the highways and byways, find the disabled, the lame and the blind, bring them in so that the Father’s house will be full.”
Yeah, that’s the foundational verse, but may I share with you the personal verse that inspires me to get up every morning and commit to that Luke 14 mandate? It’s from Acts chapter 20, verse 24. “Friend, I consider my life worth nothing. My only aim is to run the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me, the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.”
That’s my verse.
I think that’s what energizes us all here at Joni and Friends. Our lives are worth nothing, except that we can be used by the Lord Jesus to get His gospel out into the streets and the allies and the highways and byways, so more people with disabilities will come into the kingdom of our wonderful Savior.
