God Is Here For You In Times Of Trouble

God Is Here for You in Times of Trouble

God is our refuge and strength, a helper who is always found in times of trouble.

Therefore we will not be afraid, though the earth trembles and the mountains topple into the depths of the seas, though its water roars and foams and the mountains quake with its turmoil. Selah. (Ps. 46:1–3, CSB)

The earth may not be quaking, but it might feel like giant pieces of comfort and structure and routine have chipped away from our mountain of normalcy and crashed into the choppy sea below.

Maybe you’re watching those normal things that haven’t fallen yet and you’re praying they stay securely in place, while you sense the anxiety of the potential for more to be snatched away.

What happens when daily life doesn’t feel so mundane anymore, but rather it feels like things are changing every five minutes and you aren’t sure what you can count on at the moment?

What happens when sudden changes pull the rug out from under you, and you’re disoriented, not sure which way’s up or which way’s down, and your wobbly legs are begging for stability?

You reach out and grab tight onto this forever-unshakable truth:

God is your refuge.

God is your strength.

God is your help.

In times of trouble, He is always there.

Breathe deep. Loosen all those anxiously tight muscles. Release the tension in your chest.

Scripture says that mountains could fall into the oceans and we could still settle our hearts in God, our refuge and strength who promises to help us in crisis.

And God knows that mountain-falling circumstances will cause our human hearts to panic, so that’s why He reminds His children who He is. He’s the God of steadfast love who calms our fear-stricken hearts with forever-consistent power, compassion, and darkness-dispelling light.

Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand. (Isa. 41:10)

Yours, LORD, is the greatness and the power and the glory and the splendor and the majesty, for everything in the heavens and on earth belongs to you. Yours, LORD, is the kingdom, and you are exalted as head over all. (1 Chron. 29:11)

Trust in the LORD forever, because in the LORD, the LORD himself, is an everlasting rock! (Isa. 26:4)

The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer, my God, my rock where I seek refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. (Ps. 18:2)

But you, Lord, are a compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger and abounding in faithful love and truth. (Ps. 86:15)

Jesus, fears are hunting down our hearts, but we know that You are safety. Use these uncertain days to build our faith in Your love, Your faithfulness, and Your power.

We trust You today.
We trust You tomorrow.
And the day after that.

We trust You every single day, because we believe in Your steadfast love. It’s our unshakable hope.

You are good.
You are in control.
You replace our fear with peace.
You are worthy of every single ounce of our trust.
You are our sturdy foundation.

“Haven’t I commanded you: be strong and courageous? Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” (Josh. 1:9)
