Three Ways to Confess Jesus Christ

1. Confess the lordship of Christ in baptism
Christian faith involves drawing a line in the sand, in which you put your faith in Christ and pledge your allegiance to Him. Peter says, “Repent and be baptized… in the name of Jesus Christ” (Acts 2:38). Being baptized as a believer is one way in which you can confess the lordship of Christ over your life. Have you done this?

2. Confess the glory of Christ in costly obedience
“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field” (Mat. 13:44). If you have grasped the glory of Jesus, you will find ways to give sacrificially. Costly obedience shows how you value Jesus Christ. The Gospels tell us how Mary poured perfume over Jesus, and Judas was mad: “It was worth a year’s wages” (John 12:5). Mary could not think of a better use for this treasure, so she poured it out on the feet of Christ, and in doing so, she confessed His glory.

3. Confess the presence of Christ in loneliness
Paul writes from prison about friends who let him down: “Do your best to come to me quickly… Demas… has deserted me… Crescens has gone to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia. Only Luke is with me… At my first defense, no one came to my support, but everyone deserted me. May it not be held against them” (2 Tim. 4:9-11, 16). Instead of turning his disappointment into bitterness, Paul uses the failure of others to confess Christ: “But the Lord stood at my side and gave me strength… And I was delivered from the lion’s mouth” (2 Tim. 4:17). What are you going to do when other people let you down? It could be your greatest moment of discipleship.

What step of confessing Jesus might you be willing to take?
