Ep 87 – Rainbow Grace Pt 2
Hi there tom and Vicky again with it’s all greek to me. We’re gonna look at one of those words in first peter chapter four, verse 10. And it’s talking about as each one of us has received a special gift. Let us employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Talking about the word each. We wanna go into a discussion on that. Eventually, as we do this program, join us as we’re discussing it. Uh, let’s let’s go, hi tom and Vicky again with, it’s all greek to me. And we wanna continue with this rainbow grace that we’ve been looking at. And we’re gonna go right to the verse in first peter chapter four and verse 10. And as each one at CASS toes. And that’s the world we’re gonna look at today. The greek word, Gastos, you don’t really in greek, it’s, you don’t have an age, but in english, it’s a silent age. There, gastos has received a special gift, Karisma employed in serving the akan evo or the one another have to as good stewards, Economos of the manifold p kilos. There’s the word where I I translate that as rainbow or very colored or variegated, manifold grace of God. God’s grace is not just one kind and it’s not just because somebody’s good or handsome or rich or smart, but he gives strength to someone who has done and this is what the grace of God is. And we’re looking at the Grace of God, the absolute rainbow Grace of God as we’re looking at it today. So I wanna just identify the word, each and every, it is not the word in the greek Pass, which is each, every part of a total, let’s say you got one slice of pizza above a total pie. There are eight slices to the pizza pie and you have one and this is part of the pi. Uh but each one is totally separate. You’re just looking at this one piece, the individual unit viewed distinctly as opposed to view it as part of the whole. Now, that’s the difference between these two words and it is used in the versus scripture we’re gonna look at in a moment. Vicki’s gonna pick it up right now. Gastos each as an individual relates to considering individual members of a group or class. Each in its own right context. And setting Pass is each and every without the article views all indefinitely as each and every part that applies the meaning includes the total picture, but still one element at a time. And Pass focuses on the parts making up the whole viewing the whole in terms of the individual parts. You know, you might say, well, so what? So what? Well, you know, it’s this or that, but this eternal truth. Vicky as we were studying and thinking and praying is a deep and wonderful. It’s deep and wonderful because it speaks of truth for today’s identity crisis. We do not need to seek to be noticed or recognized by our words and our works in our, in our distinct mannerisms and habits because God has already put great eternal value in each of us. In fact Jesus Christ clarified this value in his amazing words in Matthew 1626 when he said, what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, but to lose his soul were so valuable to God. And so today we have a huge identity crisis. I mean when you look at what’s going on today, you ask a simple question to a Supreme Court judge that is candidate in to be a Supreme Court judge define for me, a woman, I can’t do that, I can’t define for you what a woman is. This whole thing about transgender not knowing if you’re a man or if you’re a woman, if you’re a boy or if you’re a girl, this whole all of what’s going on in society is so confusing for young people especially and God has answers. Uh you know, when he said, what is the profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul or to forfeit himself? He said it again in luke 9 25 this is the greatest profit and loss statement in the whole bible. And this whole thing about individualism. Each and every person is an individual. I want to just stop here and and let Vicky speak to that because we came out of the whole hippie movement where we were searching for truth. We’re seeking to find ourselves. We’re sitting in beings. We’re going to peace demonstrations. Give me a little bit about your thoughts when we were way back then as hippies and what we were going through concerning this identity crisis as individuals. Individualism back then was was a lot in our outward appearance because we wanted to be like the coolest clothes and the but then everybody was trying to be cool. But we all brought our pants in the same place in the village and we all looked the same after a while. Everybody looked the same. Yeah but we we wanted to be distinct and individual and very important. You know it was all about self and us. You know an image. An image. Yeah. So you have uh you know we have individual and unique fingerprints, eyes, hair, nail nails all from a unique physical D. N. A. However this is not all because we also have a unique spiritual D. N. A. This is what this passage of scripture that we just looked at is saying it’s not just the fact that we are part of the human race. One in a billion know the individual is unique. The individual is precious, one soul one life you and I are very important to God. That’s what he’s saying here. Each individual has eternal value because they are created by God himself in his image. You know I don’t need to be somebody else. God made me to be me. God made Vicki to be Vicki and you to be you. And here in genesis 1 27 God created man in his own image, in the image of God, he created him male and female. He created them. You don’t see any transgender here. God knew what he was doing. A male and a female. This is what God created. Now we’re seeing the catastrophe and the colossal blunders that are going on with Children. Now young people are killing themselves because you know, they they’re being asked, you know, well what do you want to be referred to? Hello, you’re gonna ask a six year old, a seven year old, an eight year old what they want to be referred to there a boy, they’re a girl. And so God here tells us very clearly that male and female. He created them. This is declared and illustrated throughout the whole bible but is underscored and emphasized here in this text, Vicki, you pick it up first, peter 4 10 in relation to God’s Rainbow grace and individual special gifting each one of us will give an account to God for the gift that he has entrusted to us for his purpose and plan and glory. And in second Corinthians 5 10 it says for we must all appear appear before the judgment seat of christ so that each one may be recompense for his deeds in the body according to what he has done. Whether good or bad, our obedience to this truth will determine our surrender and service to God’s will romans 12 1. Therefore I urge you paragallo you brethren by the mercy of God to present your body a living sacrifice. Holy acceptable to God is your reasonable service. Don’t be conformed to this world. Don’t take on the external appearance of what you’re really not like, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. But here in this Romans 12 passage that deals with the gifts of the spirit. The seven gifts I knew that there would be two words for each and every and all. In this verse three notice what it says for through the grace given to me, I say to everyone pass everyone that is, here are, here, here is a table and the globe let’s say is on this table. Eight billion people. Everyone. But there is also another word that says here, everyone among you not to think more highly of himself than he ought to think, but to think so as to have sound judgment as God has allotted to. Each Ed cast owes a measure of individual faith. So you take one person from this eight billion people that are on this table and that person by himself or herself has incredible intrinsic worth. That is that equals anything you can gain in this on this planet. That’s how each one of the people that God has created are according to God. It’s just a fantastic thought. Now this word is so valuable. Each when it says each it means each by themselves Without the whole. So gastos. Each person individually is accountable notice. Matthew 1627. And we’re gonna go through several of these for you to see what the Bible says. The son of man is going to come in his glory of his father with the angels from heaven and will then repay every man according to his needs. Each person is gonna have to respond for themselves. You can’t speak for your family. Your you know, your father is not gonna be able to speak for you. You’re gonna have to be uh presented by yourself before the Lord. Now look at this responsibility that you have Vicki Mark 1330 for it is like a man away on a journey who upon leaving his house and putting his slaves in charge assigning to each one casos his task also commanded the doorkeeper to stay on the alert. It’s sharing that each one of us has a special assignment from God. And in order to accomplish that assignment, he has already designated which gifts we will need to be that person on this planet and be his, his helpers, his hands. We are God’s hands and feet. Now on this planet and we’re all different. We are so you’re saying that each one has got a different task and has got a different responsibility and we’ll have to give an account for that responsibility and we’re going to get different grace to meet the need. We’re gonna get specified grace from God how much we need in the home we grow up. I mean sometimes when you counsel young people and you hear their story that they never had a mom or a dad, they were an orphan or they were abandoned and their parents were alcoholics or drug addicts. And you you look at that child and you think wow I grew up in a home with a mom and dad that loved me. They didn’t have a lot of money but they had a lot of love and so great that they did have a lot of money but they had a lot of love and I grew up healthy, I felt loved and I had a good image of myself because I felt like somebody really loved me and they wanted me and so but we have these these tasks that were like this man was to be the doorkeeper were door keepers of our homes were door keepers of our Children’s lives. We are to be that kind of person who opens up our mouth and speaks the truth no matter what the cost each person’s individual. Each person individually receives a different amount of and must give an account for it. So we’re not all getting the same gifts. We’re not getting the same responsibilities and we’re gonna be asked to give an account for what he gives us. Matthew 25 15 to 1. He gave five talents to another two and to another one. These are weights of of monetary value And each gastos according to his own ability. And we and he went on a journey away. So notice how this word is used. Each person is getting a different measurement and each person only has to give an account for that measurement that he’s given. Each person individually must forgive Matthew 1835. My heavenly father will also do the same to you if each gastos of you does not forgive his brother from his heart. Matthew 26 22. Being deeply grieved, they each one began to say to him, Surely not I Lord! At the last supper they were question, he says one of you is going to betray me. And they’re like not I not using the, is it me personally, me, am I the one doing something different that the others are not going to do? I would like to say something about this in the last six months in my life. I’ve had this principle that God tells us that we are to forgive people from the bottom of our hearts. And I was in a mission’s conference and the message was about wanting to love other people of course outside of our church. And I had known that I had offended somebody and been distant from a person that I loved for a long time. And in the middle of the meeting, God told me to go up and walk up to that person and I walked up to that person and I kissed them and told them I have always loved you. I’m so sorry for my behavior and my lack of showing you how I please forgive me from my, the way I treated you. And that person kissed me and hugged me and told me I’m as precious to him as his mother. And I it was a a man in our church. And healing is so amazing when we humble ourselves. And then we were at a conference with Tony Evans and I saw a former pastor of our church. Oh, I knew him how many years, 45 years we had lost contact and had separated. He went away for a while and I kissed him and hugged him too and becoming a big of other men. And uh, I just told him how much I loved him and so happy for the honor he received that day for serving the Lord and having a spanish ministry in new york city. And I just wanted to share that because when we humble ourselves, the blessing is it’s so great to get rid of that burden to feel like you’re not honest. Well, each person individually must forgive. It’s not, it’s not a corporate, it’s an individual thing that we have to do because it’s in our heart and then each person’s needs are unique luke 4 40. Why don’t you read it Vicky? These next two verses. Well the sun was setting. All those who had any who were sick with various diseases brought them to him and laying his hands on each one of them. He was healing them. What’s interesting here is everyone’s problem is different. The disease is different, the sickness is different and he was laying to eat. This particular person has got this problem, jesus is going to deal with that. Okay, luke 6 44 for each kostos tree is known by its own fruit. For men do not gather figs from thorns, nor do they pick grapes from a briar bush. So for lunch today I had a peach. I also had a plum, I had a couple of cherries and they’re all different fruit and one is so unique and taste differently, looks differently, smells differently than the other. And so that’s what it’s saying here. Each tree is known by its own fruit. We condemn others for what we allow in ourselves luke. 13 15. But the Lord answered him and said, you hypocrite does not, each of you on the sabbath, untie his ox or his donkey from the stall and lead him away to the to water him. I mean they’re condemning jesus christ for healing a man on the sabbath and they themselves had a, you know, Jesus is pointing out a donkey or an ox that they watered. He says, wait a minute, you are dealing with other things. I’m concerned about people Luke 16 5. And he summoned each gastos one of his master’s debtors and he began saying to the first, how much do you owe my master, you see? And every one of these illustrations, what it’s saying is, every single person is unique. Every tree is unique. You deal with people in a unique basis and that’s why our identity is fixed from eternity. God created us with uniqueness, with our own thumbprint with our own. I uh that is unique. Our hair or the lack thereof, our teeth, our whole being our our size. God, physically. But in the verse first peter 4 10, he’s talking about spiritually as each one has received, as each Castro’s received, a special gift employed in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. And it comes to us in different ways, is what he’s saying here. And then Vicky john 67 Philip answered him, 200 dinari worth of bread is not sufficient for them for everyone to receive a little. This is when jesus was about to feed the thousands of people. Behold estos, everyone christos went to his home, not everybody went to the same home. Everyone had his own individual home, behold an hour is coming and has already come for you to be scattered each to his own home and to leave me alone. And yet I am not alone because the father is with me, john 1923 says this. Then the soldiers when they had crucified, jesus took his outer garments and made four parts a part to every or casto soldier. And also the tunic. Now the tunic was seamless, woven in one piece, Acts two and verse three. And there appeared to them tongues as a fire distributing on themselves and they rested on each toes, one of them. You see the Lord, he concerns himself with empowering each one of his Children uh with the power of the Holy Spirit, with the uniting them to to the new testament. Church Acts Chapter two and verse six. When this sound occurred, the crowd came together and were bewildered because each one of them was hearing them speak in his own language. And how is it that we each gastos hear them in our own language, to which we were born, peter said to them repent and each of you be baptized in the name of jesus christ for the forgiveness of your sins and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Listen, Every single one of them spoke a different language. There were 17 different languages there and here the Apostles knew Galilean. They also knew Greek. They also knew they spoke a dialect of Aramaic and it’s wonderful for us to see that God says that each one it was necessary for them to understand what was going on. And many of the people that were from all these other countries that were there, heard each in his own language God is concerned about the individual. Let me just go on a little further here and acts 326 for your for you first God raised up his servant and and sent him to bless you by turning every one of you from your wicked ways. Acts 4 35 and lay them at the apostles feet and they would be distributed to each has has had need Vicky. Why don’t you take the last few acts 11 29. And in the proportion that any of the disciples had means, each kostos of them determined to send a contribution for the relief of the brethren living in judea. What an incredible study to realize how unique we are And that God deals with us, each of us separate from the whole and yet each of us contribute to the whole because we are part of the body of jesus christ the church, the bride God bless you again until we meet at it’s all greek to me. Each person has to be accountable for himself. God created us before we were born. He put in us the D. N. A. Our emotions, our intellect, our body, our hair, our thumbprint, our eyes, everything was pre designed by God and now we are here. And he says in his word that we are worth so much more than what we think we are. That God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him would not perish but have eternal life. And God did not send Jesus Christ in this world to condemn the world, but that the world through him should be saved. So you see, Jesus exchanged himself for us. Second Corinthians 521 says he who knew no sin became sin for us. So we could have God’s righteousness in him. That’s why this word gastos. Each person individually is accountable. Look at verse 27 in Matthew 16. For the son of man is going to come in the glory of his father with his angels and will then repay every man according to his deeds. You see, each person is going to stand before God separately for himself, not for his parents, not for his family. You can’t blame the devil made me do it. You have to stand for yourself and then look at the follow up here. Or rather the verse that that followed Matthew 1626. If for what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul. You see this is the important truth that there’s nothing more important than your soul and my soul. And that’s why it says that you’re you’re gonna stand before jesus by yourself. I’m telling you right now, jesus christ died on the cross for your sins. He was buried for your sins. He was raised from the dead, for your sins, for my sins, for all of our sins. But each of us have to personally invite him, claim him as our own. Ask for his forgiveness, asked him to save us and invite him into our life to save us. And that’s why it says this in verse 27, for the son of man is going to come in the glory of his father with his angels and will then repay every at Castro’s each and everyone separate from anyone else according to his deeds, our deeds condemn us. The wages of sin is death. But isn’t it wonderful that we’re not saved by our deeds for by grace? We are saved through faith, not of our own deeds, not of ourselves. It’s a gift of God, not by works of righteousness, which we have done titus chapter three verse five, But according to his mercy, he saves us, not by our good deeds. Oh, listen to me, my friend. All you have to do is realize, hey, you know what I’m so valuable. God loves me the way he made me and I may have screwed a lot of stuff up in my life. I may have offended my parents. I may have just done awful things to myself and other people. But I can come to God on God’s terms and ask him to forgive me and it’s really as simple as abc a admit I’m a sinner, you can do that right B believe that God loves you and that jesus christ died for you was buried and rose again and number three call on him who shed his blood and gave his life, sacrificed himself for you call on him and invite him to come in your heart and say father God, I need you. Thank you for loving me, jesus. I believe in you that you died on the cross for me. I believe in my heart. I’m confessing with my mouth, I’m a sinner, I need you. Please forgive me. Come in my heart and save me and changed me. It’s it’s your individually, you’re responsible. We shall all appear before the judgment seat of christ the believers And here the unbelievers in Matthew chapter 16 verse 27. Each one is gonna have to face jesus christ by himself individually is the word. That’s what it means, separate from the rest. And you also will stand before him. And isn’t it wonderful that God says, you can ask him to forgive you and change you and bring you into his fold. He’s the big shepherd. He’s the great shepherd of the sheep, The chief shepherd, he is the door, he said by me, if you enter in, you’ll come in and out and find pasture, john chapter 10 verse nine. Right now, talk to him say, oh father, God, thank you for loving me, jesus, Please forgive me. Come in my heart and save me. I believe I’m a sinner. I believe you died on the cross for my sins to pay for my judgment. Would you please forgive me and come in my life and save me and change me and teach me your word the bible and help me to love the people all around me and to tell them about your great love that you love them too. In jesus name, Amen. God bless you Until next time with tom and Vicky. It’s all greek to me.
